I stayed at the Felizia Apartments for one week with my two girlfriends bet 19-26th June 2010, booked through On the beach the 2 bedroomed apartment cost us £168 for the week. Good value for money. Apartment was spacious, very clean, had clean towels 3 times during the week. We had one of the larger apartments & thus had a large balcony our room was on the street & cornered the apartment block.
Lovely views of the mountains & a great space to watch the world go by & it caught the sun in the evenings.
The pool is small & so is the sunbathing area which can only accomodate 10 sunbeds at a time. We only went there once & after that a large family moved in & 'took over' the sunbeds, but it wasnt their fault it was just not big enough for the apartment block.
There are several comments about the owners at these apartments some of which I agree with. Yes they did want you to buy food etc from theri little supermarket underneath the apartment but that doesnt really surprise me I would want guests to use my facilities too. They werent rude to us, the daughter was the least talkative but we didnt let that bother us one bit !! We were polite passing the time of day with them saying hello & goodbye etc so we didnt have any problem with them. We did have to apy £25 to stay in the apartment until 530pm though I suppose this was for not shopping in their shop !!
One thing I would say is take some earplugs with you. Especially if having the 2 bed apmt. It was on the main road to the 'Old Village' & we were woken up all night long by traffic noise & road sweepers at 530am. Although in other apartments not adjacent to the road this may not be an issue. Air con was £40 for the week but we only had one unit in one of the bedrooms so it really wasnt worth it, & it egts turned off when you leave the apartment & remove your key.
We went to the beach everyday & preferred to pay £1 per day for sunbeds & umbrella for the pleasure of not being 'pressured' into buying all your food & drinks from the beach bars which allow you 'free' sunbeds !!
We booked our transfers through Resorthoppa' & it was a private minibus waiting for us & it was bang on time for the return journey, cant complain at all other then they didnt know where the apartments were in Icmeler upon our arrival & asked us where it was !! It made us laugh anyway.
We had a lovely relaxing time in Icmeler, had some lovely food & bought some cheap 'fashion' clothing. The market is good on Wednesdays. Must be over 200 restaurants all offering variety of foods to meet all tastes.
Turkish people very friendly nation & very amusing. Two nightclubs in town neither are for people 'our' age (mid 40's) more for early 20's.
The melita bar on the beach Road had a lovely pool & anyone was allowed to use it as long as you buy a drink & an icecream which I think if fair comment.
Would I go back - Yes I would very picturesque resort.
Would I stay at the Felizia - probably not, there are some lovely apartments tucked away in the side street that are so quiet - I would stay there.
Possibly downsides of Icmeler ?
All restaurants wnat to entertain you to keep you in there & all of the evening entertainment is none professional & carried out by the waiters. Good fun yes & they certainly work hard. But it can be very tacky & 'basic' & just sometimes it would have been nice to have eaten an evening meal with a good quality singer - just singing.
Saying all that we had a great holiday Our first time to Turkey & yes it was worth it.
If you fancy something a little upmarket try the KEREM restaurant along the canal a traditional turkish house, best meze we had all holiday & menu just that little bit different also service so low key we wished we had found it earlier in the week we wouldnt have eaten anywhere else.
Somewhere to avoid - Apollon restaurant at the end of the beach - it is a Greek restaurant that doesnt serve greek salad or lamb Kleftico - do i need to say anymore.
Irish bar - dreadful service & watered down cocktails - awful rip off.
Enjoy Icmeler
