we have stayed at the kontes beach hotel for the past 6 yrs; because it's a bargain (60 quid each for one weeks B & B booked through travel republic) but mainly for the stunning view from the balcony. This year we were sad to find that most of the staff in the adjoining heaven bar had left, apparently they had found permanent work in izmir during winter and decided to stay.
I've decided to write a review this year to say how hacked off we were with the attitude of two of the staff at the kontes (don't know their names, but they have been around for years). every year they hassle us to eat in the restaurant,and get really sulky if we don't, (in the past they have totally blanked us by the end of our stay), so now we always humour them by having a meal there at least once during our stay, just to avoid a bad atmosphere at breakfast (yes, that's how bad it gets!) although i have to say the service is slow and the food not as good as in the maestro restaurant next door but one.
This year when we had lunch at the kontes (just to get them off our backs), the two waiters in question weren't around. That evening the most arrogant of the two asked us, yet again, when we were going to eat there, when i told him we had eaten there earlier in the day when he wasn't around, he called me a liar and walked off!! I followed him to have a go, and he denied saying it! May i remind the staff that it's my holiday, which i pay for, and i'll eat where i want.
As much as it saddens me, I really would have second thoughts now about staying at the kontes in the future.
Rose (the owner), if you're reading this review, and you can identify these two nasty young men, then please give them a talking to, they're not doing your businuess any favours.

Sharon and I had a sea view room on the second floor, the rooms were cleaned every day, beds were very confortable which certainly makes a change, the bath rooms was small, airconditioning works well, the staff in the restaurant are very charming and you get 15% discount if your staying at the hotel. The beach is 10 yards away the beds cost 2.5 lira each and the lads will save you a bed all week, they serve dricks and snacks on the beach from the hotel. supperb holiday will go again. I was recommended this hotel and I would recommend to anybody. Book early they only have 28 rooms. All the load music goes off at midnight you get a good nights sleep. There is a market on a Wednesday. Food is great at the hotel try the T-bone steak, Salt fish and the curries.

This was my second stay in Kontes Beach Hotel.The position is terriffic-it would be very hard to beat as it is right on the beach front just seperated from the sands by a narrow promenade.
When I was there last year,I was practically invisible>I was given a side room,with a seaview if you craned your neck,I had to fetch my own drinks at breakfast although couples and larger tables had waiter service and there was no real effort by the staff to be friendly.
This time I was travelling with a friend and e-mailed ahead asking for a front-facing room.(I had done this on previous stay)We were given a front facing room and it had amazing views.The staff all appeared to be the same except for the receptionist.She was really nice and has been replaced by two equally as nice sisters,one of whom barely speaks English.
The staff seemed to concentrate on the same groups of people all the time.I.e. a big fuss being made every time they appeared but barely a grunt out of them for anyone else.
The rooms were not very clean with the linen and towels only changed once instead of twice and that was only after we asked.A waiter took our order for a breakfast drink.
Considering everything I do not think I would stay there again or,in fact,go back to that resort.

Friendly little hotel with an unrivalled position right on the beach front at Icmeler.
Rooms are compact and simply furnished but freshly painted and spotlessly clean and with the all important individually controlled air conditioning.
However, the things that really make this hotel stand out are:-
1. The fantastic sea views from the balcony of every room - completely uninterrupted views over Marmaris Bay.
2. The friendly, helpful staff - especially the receptionist and the waiting staff.
3. The fabulous restaurant - possibly the best in Icmeler - where incidentially hotels guest get 15% off the bill.
There's no pool but with its fantastic beachside position you don't need it...in fact Omar (the Kontes beach boy ) will get your bed ready on the hotels own section of the beach whilst you eat breakfast.
The hotel is popular with Scandinavians - especially Swedish and Finnish, so book early to avoid disappointment!
