“Not that bad!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2009

We are well seasoned travellers, and have experienced several caribbean cruises as well as all inclusive hotels in various caribbean islands, so after reading reviews we were not sure what to expect in Turkey. However, this was one of the best holidays we've ever had!!! For the money paid I don't think you can really complain, yes the rooms are quite small, the shower was clean enough, the pool was great and my son made lots of friends with the turkish children there. I suppose if you want to go to an english only hotel you would be disappointed, but we found the turkish people to be really friendly and we ended up having water fights with parents and children alike! We always managed to find something to eat, and did not get dodgy tummies at all. My husband became ill with an ear infection while we were there, and the care he received was excellent, the hotel even got a member of staff to run myself and my son up to the clinic to see if he was ok.
For a first trip to Turkey we really enjoyed it, and have booked to go in October, although we will be trying a different hotel this time!

“Don't go here it's horrendous”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2009

ok so me and my best my mate booked this holiday last minute. We were on a budget so we expected something budget to go with it but as long as we were in the sunshine we would be happy. We arrived at the hotel and straight away were a bit wary of the look of it. It was very tired looking and looked old and dusty. We were shown to our rooms which again were old tired and tiny but we were not that fussed as we would be by the pool most of the time. We went for lunch on our first day and it was disguisting. The salad was unfresh and left out so the cucumber was dry and hard by the time in reached our plates. We are not fussy eaters but we ended up buying dairylee and cheese from the shop most lunchtimes and going out for dinner which was annoying as we were all inclusive. I must say that the dinner was slightly better (ingnoring the queues). We managed to laugh it off but the holiday ended up costing us much more as we ate out most the time (thank god for the credit card). The pool was nice, couldn't get a sun bed to save our lives.

I would also say be wary if you are girls going on your own. We talked to two turkish guys from the resort the night before but made it clear we had boyfriends and were not interested we just wanted to spend the time together. In the morning they found out our room number and continued to knock on the door.I told my friend to be quiet as they would go away but they climbed over the balcony to try and open our door that way. With no luck the maid then proceeded to let them in. We were under our covers with nothing on. She opened the door for the walking away and leaving them in our room!

We were obviously a bit shaken up and after telling them to get out we went to recepion to call our rep. But the manager was at recpetion and asked us what was wrong. When we told him he basically said we had brought it on ourselves "as english girls we know what you are like".It seemed that because we were young girls no body took us seriously and just asumed we had come to turkey to sleep around! The rep couldn;t move us and we had to stay in the hotel with these two lads still there. The photographer in particular in the resort approached us to say "i don't want you going back to your country slagging off mine, you brought this on yourself etc etc" he also ripped off other guests taking pictures "for free" and then pressuring you to buy them, saying you had to buy them as he had already got them printed even though we asked him not to. So beware!

On a plus side we managed to see the bright side. We found a great bar in town that we had no hassle in and had great food and drink. We also went on a boat trip which was great as turkey has some amazing views. The beach was beautiful and a walk away

So the bottom line is. DO NOT STAY HERE. I was a student for god sake and even i have much higher standards than this. Turkey as a country however is beautiful and if you want to go there pay more money and find a great hotel and area. Steer clear of the commerical parts and i hope you will have a better time than me. If you have already booked this, take some extra money so you can dine out and for the excursions. Do what me and my friend did, enjoy each others company and just try and have a laugh

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Not what we expected at all!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2008

How other people can review this hotel as anything more than 2 stars is beyond me! My boyfriend and I booked this holiday last minute through the teletext website, and we chose the Galeria Park hotel based on its reviews. Which were in my opinion utterly wrong! We are not a snobby couple and have been on many cheap package holidays but have never come across one as awful as this.

Our room was in a separate block to the main hotel located the other side of a horrible river, and the only way to get to it was over a rusty bridge up lots of slopes and steps. It was also right behind a bar which is suppose to stop playing music loud at 12am but it doesn't and the music will carry on till 4am! (We are a young couple but some nights we just wanted peace and quiet!)
The room itself was tiny only just enough room for the two single beds and a dresser. It had a t.v. which worked when it wanted too but one plus was that it had a hair dryer.
The maids did make our room up every day but the pillows and beds were like concrete and the shower was never clean.

The food was disgusting but I am fussy although my partner is not and he wouldn't eat it either. None of the food was labelled so you never knew what you were getting anyway which was probably a good job as some of it didn't taste right! Lunch and breakfast were served in a dining area inside.
The breakfast was the same everyday which was traditional Turkish breakfast (A boiled egg, olives, feta cheese, cucumber, bread and Jam.) this is not worth getting up for.
Lunch was on occasion ok but the same old salad bar was on offer (off sweet corn, random mushrooms in an extremely salty sauce and cucumber) Best to stick with the soup and bread!
Dinner was served outside were all the food was open to insects as soon as dinner time began at 7:30pm, yet again the salad bar is on offer and some hot dishes examples of what we had when we didn't eat out were: - Meatballs which didn't taste of meat, some beef dish the meat was so chewy we left it and vegetables in a white sauce which were nice. The desserts we so sweet they were inedible and were always covered in wasps!
The drinks on offer from the pool bar all tasted a bit strange but were drinkable.

The swimming pool was clean and just about big enough for the amount of guest, we did have problems getting a sun bed as people would leave towels on them for the whole day when not even by the pool.
The staff were nice and tried to help if you needed it but not all of them spoke English.

Icmeler itself was nice and eating out was cheap as long as you check the prices of the drinks before you order. You get a lot of attention from the locals who will try to entice you into their bar or restaurant but will back off if you ignore them or say no thank you.
A great place to eat is the Titanic restaurant which serves lovely food and Oscar and Erkon are really friendly.

Overall it's a nice place but just be cautious of which hotel you choose, in my opinion your better off going self catering.

  • Liked — The convenience of the location and the swimming pool.
  • Disliked — The food, the room and the loud music till 4am!

“it was great!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2008

Me and my husband have just returned from a lovely week at Galeria. I was dreading it after having read such awful reviews, but was pleasantly surprised.

Lovely clean pool, good service at bar, room service excellent. All staff really pleasant.

All Inclusive - Plenty to drink,( hic! ) Food was good and plenty of it!

Not the best all inclusive we have had but you get what you pay for!

For a last minute bargin it was great, we only booked it on the 31st july and went on the 4th Aug.

There is plenty of places to go and eat out for a change and cheap too!

Excellent location and Icmeler is a lovely place. If you have booked, please don't dread it, just go and enjoy it,

it is a very basic hotel but nice and clean with very friendly staff.

  • Liked — the friendly staff and the clean rooms
  • Disliked — could have done with some hotel entertainment in evenings

“awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2008

Just arrived back from here, Its the worst place ive ever stayed and i am well travelled. There are 3 blocks of accomodation the main is the best the rest are very bad you have to cross a river to get to these which is actually more like a sewer, smells with pooh floating in it, and there is a nightclub near these two blocks so you hear boom boom until 4am.I will be listing all my photos if I can to show how bad it is tomorrow,The room was small and very run down, tv was broken and we did not at any time have hot water, the shower was so dirty i went out and bought cleaner after the maids tried three times to clean it , the food was so bad, breakfast consisted of sour feta, olives, sour yoghurt it had started to go like cottage cheese but was like this everyday?! and on one day we had boiled eggs raw (like jelly or completely black yolk) or boiled pots?! lunch was soup made from the prevous nites main course, salad and dubious hot meal which on three occasions the meat was off and the fish was slimey and really smelt, there was tomato, leaves (not washed) & cucumber and off sweetcorn, the drinks dispensers are so dirty they look like there muddy and I found hairs in the drinks so just drank pepsi, the water dispenser from the bar is filthy and the water tastes odd,the tray were the extra water dribbles goes into was actually black when it was white plastic.Dinner is served from 7.30 get there then as the food is out then and just sits there with nothing to maintain the temperature, meals consist of large salad bar, pasta tubes in bbq sauce, lettuce, toms, cuc,if your lucky potato salad, cabbage, onion with paprika, bread and the puddings are clear dishes of cold custard type mousse that tastes hideous,80% of people staying here are Turkish, the waiters all wore football shirts for an average of three days and all male staff smelled badly of bo and leaned across you whilst eating, they all lear badly at any women and hiss when you walk past,There were about 20 english guests there during our stay 10 were moved to a different complex, the rest of us just made do though another family and couple left early.Ohh and they play loud rap music from 12pm everyday that is so loud you just cant get away from it and has no bleeps and is hardcore, very bad taste. We complained about this and they laughed at us.
The linen put on the tables was re-used through out the holiday so you would have all meals on heavily stained linen.
The champagne bar next door is a lifesaver and walk to the beach and go along to the guy selling Icecream and waffles he is right next door to the Marmaris water taxi and the Eagle statue the sunbeds are cheap and you get no hassle and the large water here is 2 lira,DO not get drinks before asking how much they are by the beach they usually charge at least doulbe for this so you'll pay £15 for a coke and a beer!!! but at this place it was cheaper.
Girls get everything cheaper and you get hassled everywere, you will get grabbed by the wrist so be prepared and boyfriends/husbands/father be prepared they are very blatant and Brave
