Me and my partner stayed here for one week from 22 August half board, this was unfortunate because we had wished to of stayed longer. The drive from the airport was really long and tiresome and involved a 2hr coach ride then a 30min taxi ride to Icmeler in the early hours. Saying that we were greeted to this stunning 4 star hotel overlooking the bay. We could not believe how gorgeous it looked, a stark contrast to the hotels we had passed by in Marmaris.
The hotel porter was really friendly and approachable in showing us to our room and where things were. As we checked in at around 04:30 we missed breakfast so instead used the poolside snack bar for refreshments. Here we greeted by Hassan who immediately made us feel welcome with his rendition of ‘you’ll never walk alone’ and other charms. The hotel and facilities are really good quality, the spa where we had our 1st and 2nd Turkish bath was brilliant. A typical Turkish bath included time in the sauna or on the bath slab to warm up, followed by scrubbing with soap & peeling, massage, then hot & cold water to rinse off, this is followed by relaxation in a quiet room sipping apple tea to detox, a face mask and a final full body massage with body oils. Compared to UK this is really cheap, costs the same as a standard 30min back massage, so go get one!
The surrounding area is really pleasant; we tended to walk in the evening as we arrived during a heat wave. There are your usual fool’s gold shops you find abroad but a few little gems of bars and restaurant’s dotted around. Our favourite was a small bar adjacent to the 5 star hotel which played live music in the evening and served the best Efes beer in proper ice cold beer glasses. It only takes 30mins to walk around the side of the bay where there is a karaoke bar that was brilliant fun. As we just wanted somewhere to chill out we tended not to venture into the bar that played eardrum bursting tunes. If you want to venture into Marmaris it’s apparently an hour walk or a quick bus ride.
Back to Fantasia, the evening meals are exquisite, there ‘IS’ a wide selection of foods available, we thought of a very high standard. For example a variety of traditional Turkish dishes of chicken, fish, beef, pork, and roast vegetables. Furthermore there were a selection of salads, fruits and pastries on offer for desert. Breakfast was equally gorgeous, again a selection of hot foods, sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, fried tomatoes, mushrooms, ect and cereals and fruit. We stocked up sharpish before our departure in the morning and gave a final farewell.
Food was complimented by superb service from the hotel staff. The staff that stood out where Hassan and ….. who I can’t remember but looks Ryan Stiles. The waitresses who aren’t too fluent in English but who do all work really hard and long shifts which we noticed in seeing to our needs. One thing that we though a brilliant idea was the guy on the guitar playing during meal time. He was really talented playing acoustics that had passers buy looking over. Evening entertainment by the pool bar changed night by night, sometimes a performer on mic and one other traditional Turkish dancers who gathered a crowd. We thought that to entice more people to the hotel to maybe open up the evening bar for passers by so not just exclusive to hotel guests. The holiday was just what we needed and exceeded our expectations, we could not fault this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
