This was our return trip to this hotel. Stayed 12th September 2011- 03rd October.
We was again met by the lovely Rose who runs this superb hotel. Rose gave us a lovely room with a big balcony by the pool. The room was immaculate and as always...very clean and spacious. Once settled in we met the staff at the Oylum that we didnt see on our 1st holiday there. Dursan/Dave "sound as a pound" barman was very welcoming and always fun to be around. Nico the chef is a crazy funny guy with his kung fu impressions...always up to mischief is Nico, a great entertainer and fabulous chef. Memet is the night watchman although he works in the day too, great guy is Memet and a good friend. Always laughing and smiling and as with all the staff at the hotel...Nothing is too much trouble for Memet. I sat many a morning drinking tea and chatting away with Memet. Aysia the maid works super hard,so lovely is Aysia...again always smiling and full of fun...The staff are a real credit to Rose and the hotel. Rose's children...Ardar and Zeynep have grown since our last visit,so lovely to see them again. We ate many meals at the hotel during our stay...the food is excellent, good value, prices comparable to restaurants nearby and some of the best food you will find in Icmeler...We had the best steak in Icmeler back at the hotel, Nico the chef cooks to perfection and takes great pride in his food. Rose was always ensuring we was happy during our holiday, nothing is ever too much trouble for Rose.
There is a laptop at the hotel that uses the hotel’s wireless connection to the internet. Many guests were sat in the garden using facebook, email etc… Really good of Rose to provide this for the guests. The gardens at the Oylum are superbly maintained and provide a very relaxing environment in which to sunbathe etc… The garden has pomegranate trees, grape vines, flowering trees…. Whilst we were there, one of Rose’s relatives got engaged and there was a family gathering to celebrate back at the Hotel, Rose’s family got the guests involved, up doing traditional Turkish dances etc… Rose and staff then brought round plates of yummy Turkish food for everyone to enjoy. It was a great night and also lovely of the family to involve everyone. This is typical of the warm, friendly nature of the hotel that we experienced during our stays here.
We again, cant wait to return to this lovely family run hotel. Roll on 2012
