“The Spa is a disgrace”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2010

My partner and I booked two 1h30m massages last weekend as we were both due to some well deserved relaxation. When she booked the massages, she asked via phone if the Spa use was included (which usually when booking a massage is the case) and this got confirmed. So on the day, after the massage we used to spa for a little while, but it is really nothing special. Small sauna which was not up to heat, tiny pool, jacuzzi area, etc. After 20mins we called it a day, showered and made our way to the reception to pay. Turns out that for some reason there was a miss-understanding regarding the usage of the spa, and we now got charged 30 EUROS per person to use the spa!! Even in the events where sometimes the spa is not included with your massage, you typically get charged 5-10 EUR per person, and you get to use a decent spa. 30 EUROS per person for this standard of spa was a disgrace. It pretty much straight away undid the relaxation the massage provided. 1 star and not a recommendation as far as the Spa goes!

“Perfect for a romantic break or bit of luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

Stayed in a Grand Suite for our wedding night. Was more like an apartment. Very luxurious, with entrance hall, lounge area, bedroom, large bathroom and spacious terrace with sun loungers and table and chairs. Located in one of the most beautiful areas of Spain.

“A really good place to relax”

I´ve been in lots of hotels before, but this one really surprised me. First of all, the hotel is not just a building, it seems like a small village all surrounded by pretty nice gardens that gives the complex a lovely peaceful athmosphere. The SPA was really good (the 4 hand massage is absolutely recommendable) also you should try the gastronomic restaurant. The surroundings were nice as well, there are lots of hidden beaches (ask in the hotel, the staff is truely friendly) were you can have a tasty paela (or whatever you like, but I love the mediterranean cooking).
I recommend this hotel to anybody that wants to relax and enjoy spanish climate (and of course the cooking!!!).

“Not a 4* or a small leading hotel of the world!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2009

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the El Rodat hotel and felt compelled to share my experience with anyone thinking of booking this hotel. Having stayed at a number of the leading small hotels of the world group how this hotel meets the grades beggers belief. The hotel is set out in the form of a village with the hotel rooms on a steep hillside with a long flight of steps down to the rooms. The standard rooms are set at the bottom of the flight of steps; please bare in mind that you will have to carry your own suitcases down to your room and then back up when you leave as the hotel has no porter! The outside patio entrance to the room greets you with iron railings reminisent of a prison cell not a luxury hotel. Once inside the room first appearances can be deceptive as the bedding and decor are pleasant however the rooms get very little day light and due to the location the rooms do not receive very good ventilation. The beds and linen felt very damp which is not conducive to a good nights sleep! When we asked if we could change to a room further up the hillside we were told that would only be possible if we payed another 50 Euros a night.

Service in the hotel was very limited with the worst experience being on our final morning at the hotel when we were greeted at breakfast by a waitress who seemed to view all hotels guests as a major inconvience and spent her time tutting at guests when they asked for hot drinks or food not what i expect when you are paying to stay at a supposed four star hotel - i have to say this is the worst 4* i have ever stayed in and we will not be returning and would not recomend this hotel to anyone.

“tranquil surroundings with beautiful clean rooms and grounds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2009

Stayed at El Rodat in a suite for four days. All surpassed our expectations. Breakfast was fantastic and service exceptional. All staff very friendly. Our suite had a fantastic view of Mongo, Standard of room very good, a definate 4 star, with black out curtains and electric shutters, very quiet air con. The spa facilities are immaculate and very tranquil, just what you need in the midst of 30 degrees heat. We didn't want to leave!!
