“A lovely and relaxing play to stay”

I can only assume that the previous review was written by someone from the Hotel it goes on to recommend, as I cannot recognise the description they give from my experience at Hotel Buenavista!

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer, as it is a lovely little hotel in a quiet spot. We found the staff there extremely polite, helpful, accommodating and efficient. Everything we asked for, we got and more besides.

The gardens are lovely and we enjoyed a bottle of wine one evening sitting outside in a very peaceful spot. The gardens are beautiful, really pretty and well maintained - I even saw the gardeners arrive on the morning we left and they were very busy pruning bushes and trees etc! The swimming pool is large, clean and cool, with plenty of loungers/ chairs. There is also a racket ball court of some description and a small gym.

The room we had on the second floor was very clean, light and spacious. Yes, perhaps some of the fixtures are a bit dated, but to most reasonable people, this doesnt cause any problems. The air conditioning worked perfectly and our room was cool throughout. We also had fantastic nights' sleep, even though the hotel was almost full whilst we were there. The beds were very large and comfortable.

It was also great to be able to park the car (in the shade), having just come from Granada where it cost quite a lot to park the car.

We did a few small walks in nearby Javea/Xabia (also a lovely spot) and Calpe; Denia itself was really bustly and a very pleasant town. Ate a great meal at the Raset restaurant (see trip advisor for lots of reviews!).

So overall, I would say that this is an oasis of calm and a lovely place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone who can understand that not everything in life is perfect, but it can still be enjoyable nonetheless!

“Dirty”

We booked two nights at this hotel based on the reviews, however we soon realised that we had made a mistake.
The dining room was dirty as was the hotel generally, the air condioning did not work and the temp was 33 degrees, the rooms very small and dated ,the power kept going off . Overall it felt like a dated faulty towers. The grounds had been barely touched and it seemed that the hotel was run by two girls who were lost as to how to maintain the building. It wasmore expensive than the marriot which was much better if you want a hotel outside of Denia.
I would recomened the Hotel Charmarel in tne cenre of the town, it was truliy charming

“Buenavista - it certainly has and a lot more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2009

Firstly, this isn't a B&B, it's a four-star hotel with a nice restaurant. My wife and I stayed here for two nights in early June. For some reason, the place was virtually deserted, even though it was half-full. The staff are absolutely charming, from front of house Lupe (who speaks excellent English) to Sanche, the odd-job man and what'shername behind the bar, neigther of whom speak anything other than Spanish but are a dab hand at miming.

Room: we had 103, which has a great terrace. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean. Goodness knows who does the housekeeping because we never saw anyone but always returned to a freshly made-up bed and clean towels. The bathroom was showing its age a bit but everything worked and was, again, scrupulously clean. Memo for women: do your make up on the terrace - the lighting in the bathroom is poor, even using the magnifying mirror provided. There's ethernet for your laptop in each room, along with multi-channel Spanish tv.

Food: Really not bad at all. Fish was excellent, vegetables properly cooked, puddings moreish. My wife had a steak one night which was a bit tough but that's about all there is to complain about. If you are looking for value, go for the half-board. Wine list short but reasonable. Expect to pay €12-18 for a bottle of good white and €12-35 for a bottle of good red. House wine drinkable and available by the glass, though they'll also make any of the other wines available by the glass. What'shername makes a mean gin and tonic - don't drive after drinking one. Breakfast: usual buffet but all ingredients completely fresh. I ate too many of their terrific croissants, which were better than most I've had in France. Do go for the coffee, even if it's decaf (descaffinado) because it's among the best coffee you'll ever taste.

Pool: 25-metre job, unheated, but at 30C who cares? Again, well tended. There are many wasps in the area and they tend to commit suicide in the pool, so be warned. Mr odd job man had to come in on his day off to sort them out, which he did efficiently and uncomplainingly.

Setting: beautiful. The gardens have been designed to prevent you seeing anything other than good views. The planting is mature and really rather beautiful.

You'll need a car to visit this hotel, as it's slightly out of the way, but it's worth the drive. You'll have a very nice time and meet some very nice people and not break the bank. Expect to pay between €100 to €180 a night for two depending on the time of year and the size of room. Half board a good option if you can't be bothered to drive to another restaurant or want to drink a glass or two. Don't worry if you can't speak Spanish - you'll muddle through.

“Simply fantastic could not wish for anything better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2009

This Hotel was amazing. It has it's own beautiful grounds, with swimming pool, Gym, seating areas and parking. It is situated in a quiet area with great views, it is easy to find and best of all only a 10 minute drive to Denia. We actually walked into Denia only 30minutes. You have a hidden Gem here, and it gives you access to the whole area. The hotel was fantastic all the rooms were clean and of a good size. Some of the rooms on the first floor had massive terraces with amazing views. The staff were all very helpful nothing was too much trouble, even though we didn't speak Spanish and their English was limited we all managed to communicate and got everything we asked for.
So the Hotel, Staff and amenities were excellent, but the food was even better.
We were served with the best Steak we have ever tasted. We did not book for the evening meal, but in the end it was so good we had the evening meal every night.
This is an Hotel everyone going to this area of Spain should stay at, whether you want romance, relaxation, culture or great food do not miss it.
We can't wait to go back
