“Fabulous hotel at affordable prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Stayed here for 4 nights. Absolutely massive hotel, hard to get your bearings at first, but when you do wow. Breakfast was included, you name it and it was there, plenty of room in restaurant and outside seating as well. There is a great bar at the back with views over puerto mazarron. Morroccon themed bar all curtains, hammocks, cosy areas to sit in. The pool itself looked lovely never went in it always went to the beaches, nearest 1 about 10 mins walk away. Rooms really big, free safety deposit box and air conditioning we had a room over the bar so fabulous views and never heard any noise. Its about 5 minutes walk downhill to the centre of puerto mazarron and then another 5 to the marina area with the bars and restaurants. Free parking all around the hotel. Excellent.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel overlooking the bar have the fabulous views.

“Excellent hotel and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011 via mobile

A real gem of a hotel that will not break the bank. A very warm welcome with good rooms and high standard of cleanliness. It is difficult to fault this hotel at this price. The comments made about the cooked breakfast are accurate, stick to the continental and you cannot go wrong. We will return to this hotel.

“Flying visit to La Cumbre Murthia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We'd been invited by friends to fly over to Spain and mananged a few days with them in the sun. They were kind enough to offer their spare bedroom but decided instead not to impose on them so they suggested hotel La Cumbre.

The on-line booking was straight forward and the deal was incredibly good value. £98 for four nights on a room only basis.

We weren't expecting much for that price but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

The hotel is smart, clean and efficiently-run. Our double room was spacious and spotless. No mini bar, tea-making facility or hairdryer but for that price, who cares?

We took breakfast at the hotel on a couple of occasions at a cost of seven euros each but weren't impressed with the almost cold fried eggs and bacon. The continental offerings were a better option. However, we found an eaterie in the port itself just ten minutes walk from the hotel. There we were served the most enormous full english breakfast with tea and toast for just five euros each.

We took dinner once at the hotel and the quality of the meal was good. However, once again we found oursleves eating out mostly.

In all, La Cumbre offered excellent value.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel. Ours was at the front and our sleep was disturbed by barkin...

“Spain, the real one”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

I stayed here on the 17th to 22 nd Sept based on the reviews in trip advisor. I was looking for a real Spain holiday easily accessible from Edinburgh. We went with Jet2 and booked a car with Goldcar. They ( and most other car hordes now ) are offering cheap car hire but it's a full empty fuel, so unless you travel 500 miles in a week then you are just paying an extra 90 euros for the hire.
The hotel is. spotless, the grounds are really nice and there is a brilliant kiddies pool with lots of playground equipment and all shaded.
The rooms are a bit basic but have aircon, our room did not have a fridge but did have a large safe. Nice balcony with views to sea but view over town is not great.
Breakfast was ok, adequate but nothing special. Lunch and dinner was really nice and very good quality. You could choose from either the cafeteria menu or a good lunch/ dinner menu anytime and the wine selection was good with a bottle of good Rioja crianca at 12 euros.
Wifi is available in the public areas and worked best in the reception area.
We paid 44 Euros a night double room with breakfast, if you go for half or full board the it's the 10 Euros fixed menu choice.
Many of the staff are not friendly, not rude either and we did try to speak spanish but there is a certain reserve with most of them, I think it's the way the senior management treat there guests and that filters all the way down.
The town is not that interesting and the beach has a dark brown sand, not very inviting.
For a short break it was extremely good value. If you need a relaxing few days and are happy to stay at the hotel and enjoy the food there, then it's a place I would recommend. If you want something with a bit more interest then go somewhere else. The landscape is not good in this area and nothing much of interest nearby. The trip from Murcia airport is less than 1 hour and the road is good plus quiet, the fee is about 5 Euros.

“More a small resort than a hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

the hotel is in itself more a little resort than a hotel for visiting surroundings. Swimming pool, different terraces, good food, beutiful gardens. It is located iin a strange area, far from shopping, but near the port and its entertainment. Very near to local marketplace, street market and an artisanal permanent market. Nice stay, good balance between quality and price, but not a luxury hotel. Very clean ans very nice staff.
