“Historic home in Frederick, MD”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

Owners Betty & Phil are welcoming and hospitable. B&B is located just a few blocks from the historic downtown. They are a very nice couple and see to their guests' needs. Beverages and snacks available all the time. You hear daytime and early evening traffic on Market Street. However all is quiet from about 10pm until 7am or so. Nice wrap around porch for relaxing outside. Betty is a collector of all sorts of dolls - antique and up to present day. She's a great resource for travelers with suggestions for local restaurants and visiting the surrounding area.

“Charming,Inviting, quiet getaway with a great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

In June 2010,my husband and I stayed 1 night at Hollerstown Hill B&B.We needed a small getaway, and wanted to enjoy a night on the town in nearby downtown Frederick, which is a short 10 minute walk away.My husband and I love the history of the area, the shops, restaurants, antiques, and local battlefield close by.The B&B is very inviting,as are the innkeepers. The grounds are beautiful, the flowers blooming about the property,a gorgeous front porch and swing to enjoy our morning coffee. The decor country Victorian,it is a beautiful house, neat rooms downstairs to spend your time.We even enjoyed a few games of pool with complimentary beverages& music before heading downtown.I felt at home there, and had plenty of privacy.Upstairs all the bedrooms are nicely decorated, each with it's own theme.Bed comfortable, soft sheets, nice and cooled room with individual a/c unit, slept so peaceful, the neighborhood quiet. Our room also had a balcony porch which was relaxing as we sipped a glass of wine together. So,close to the street but yet still so quiet I was amazed. There was plenty of information and guides about the area in our room which is always helpful. The inn keepers friendly and the breakfast in the morning was everything and then some, with nice healthy choices,a nice time eating together and meeting a chatting with some of the other guests.A wonderful, relaxing experience.

“Not as advertised-dusty and tired”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

We chose this B & B based on published reviews, but found them inaccurate.

A multitude of dolls, doll carriages, dried flowers, doll clothes, china gewgaws, ersatz Victorian mirrors, vases, scented candles, overstuffed chairs and ersatz oriental carpets, curtains are in need of a good laundering, and the house seems dusty and tired looking due to the clutter of Victoriana everywhere. Our beds needed new mattresses—these were worn and saggy.
What is advertised on the website as a “sumptuous breakfast” was wanting: an eggy casserole with limp veggies, a yogurt concoction -- blueberry yogurt with canned mandarin oranges on top. Coffee was weak, served with half and half, no nonfat or 1 or 2 % milk available, though we were offered almond milk or soy milk. There was a sugary homemade pastry which we did not try.
Owners are pleasant, and the location, across from the Maryland School for the Deaf, is an easy 10 minute walk to the best restaurants in town and many of the in town historic sites.

The house comes with two small and very vocal dogs.

Shower and toilet and sink in every room, and room air conditioners which mask the traffic noise that runs by on Market Street. On street parking. Neighborhood seems safe, if a bit empty after dark.

In short, not worth the price; better to bunk at one of the inexpensive chain hotels on the fringes of town, pay the ultra-reasonable daily parking fee of a dollar in one of Frederick’s many municipal garages, and spend the difference on a café breakfast.

“Great Experience--Would Definitely Return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2010

We had a wonderful time at this B&B. The house was beautiful, the room was very spacious, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The innkeepers were very friendly and helpful, and made us feel at home. We loved the pool table and chocolates! It's in short walking distance to all the shops and stores on Market St. We were in town to go to Volt. It was the perfect place to stay.

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2009

Good location, within walking distance of tyhe center of Frederick. Very friendly but unobtrusive innkeepers who give good advice. I would definitely recommend this place.
