We chose this B & B based on published reviews, but found them inaccurate.
A multitude of dolls, doll carriages, dried flowers, doll clothes, china gewgaws, ersatz Victorian mirrors, vases, scented candles, overstuffed chairs and ersatz oriental carpets, curtains are in need of a good laundering, and the house seems dusty and tired looking due to the clutter of Victoriana everywhere. Our beds needed new mattresses—these were worn and saggy.
What is advertised on the website as a “sumptuous breakfast” was wanting: an eggy casserole with limp veggies, a yogurt concoction -- blueberry yogurt with canned mandarin oranges on top. Coffee was weak, served with half and half, no nonfat or 1 or 2 % milk available, though we were offered almond milk or soy milk. There was a sugary homemade pastry which we did not try.
Owners are pleasant, and the location, across from the Maryland School for the Deaf, is an easy 10 minute walk to the best restaurants in town and many of the in town historic sites.
The house comes with two small and very vocal dogs.
Shower and toilet and sink in every room, and room air conditioners which mask the traffic noise that runs by on Market Street. On street parking. Neighborhood seems safe, if a bit empty after dark.
In short, not worth the price; better to bunk at one of the inexpensive chain hotels on the fringes of town, pay the ultra-reasonable daily parking fee of a dollar in one of Frederick’s many municipal garages, and spend the difference on a café breakfast.
