“Please save your money and go elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

My family and I were traveling to Washington, DC for a Labor Day weekend getaway. We stopped at the Econo Lodge in Frederick Md and rented 2 rooms. First off the key cards did not work to open the doors-this should have been our farewell warning. One of the rooms had no phone or tv remote. The office promised to bring us one-but, all we got was a remote that did not work properly. Their were no light bulbs in several of the lights-we never did get those. The commode kept kicking on and off. We had rented the rooms for the whole weekend , so we put things in the fridge. The "maid" unplugged the fridges in both of the rooms and our lunchmeat spoiled. Each time we left and returned to our rooms our keycards did not work and we had to go had have them redone. We would turn the air down before we left and we woild come back to a freezing room because the maid had turned the air on the coldest setting. The sheets had holes in them. The smoking room had no ashtrays and we never did get one. The breakfast consisted of nasty coffee, bread, donuts and cold cereal. The best part of our stay was when we checked out. I will never stay at an Econo Lodge again because of this one. And the good reviews on here sound like an unpaid commercial put on by the owner because in no way is this place a pleasant experience or a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Keep on driving past this one.

My girlfriends and I were traveling through Frederick, tired and ready for sleep. Got the key to the room, people living at this hell hole, I cannot believe EconoLodge actually allows this Dump to carry it's name! Upon entering and inspecting the room we asked for a refund with NO Problem. It was almost as if they expected it. Room was so filthy we couldn't even imagine taking off our shoes much less sleeping on that bed! Wallpaper peeling, tub disgusting, tiles coming up off the floor under a carpet that had stains everywhere, holes in the boxsprings, I could go on and on....Do Not Ever Stay Here!

“Most disgusting hotel ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

My wife and kids were on our way to Virginia beach and I had to stop driving for the night. used my gps to find inexpensive room for the night. Found Econo Lodge finally. Upon pulling up and seeing sign that said all transactions after 10pm handled through a window. I went in got the keys. As we pulled around the building at almost 11 pm there were rooms with doors open and a half a dozen guys hanging around drinking, smoking, and being loud. I was actually fearful for my family and vehicle. The room was the most vile place I have ever stayed and I have slept in barns before! the floor was oily and grimy. The toilet in rm 203 was about to fall through the floor. The tile was cracked. As we tried to get some sleep the thugs outside carried on until after midnight as well as a toddler running around outside screaming and crying. I got up and checked to see if my car was there 5 times. This was a $29.95 hotel at best. I agree with an earlier poster who recommended tearing it down. However, it will probably fall down on it's own in a few years. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck!!!!! I would have left but was too exhausted!

I would rank less than terrible if available!
