The hotel has an old-fashioned rustic feel with lots of dark wood panelling but the rooms were clean and comfortable. The swimming pool was outdoors but was not open when we stayed (not sure if it was broken or too early in the season).
For us, the location was excellent as it was very close to the Monfrague national park, and other good birding areas but others may find it too remote.
Although the hotel was on the outskirts, you could walk into Malpartida but we couldn't find anywhere there we fancied eating, the alternative is to drive into Plasencia.
The hotel seems very popular with the locals, the bar was full on Friday night - it was very lively! On our first night there was a birthday party with karoake into the early hours and on the Saturday we returned to the hotel to find only one space left in the car park as there was a wedding. Fortunately they did not do karaoke and after a spell in the bar, they moved to another part of the hotel.
Service was good but we felt it may have been better in the bar/at breakfast if we were fluent in Spanish. However, we made ourselves understood in the end.
All in all a good place to stay if you want to visit Monfrague.
