I use Motel 6 when traveling because I am looking for nice clean quiet no frills budget accomadations with no surprises, no $39.99 and UP, just $39.99, thank you, although they do charge an extra $2.99 a night for internet but all of us regularr Motel 6 travelers expect that. Personally, I'd gvie them an extra star if they started throwing in the internet with the quoted price. I got what I expected at the Motel 6 Barstow on Yucca Ave.

This motel is located close to the main highway yet on a side street so it was pretty quiet. The side street was just off of Main street near a shopping mall and a good variety of places to shop and eat which was quite convenient. The clerk was quite friendly and helpful in pointing out local attractions and suggesting places to eat, shop, local tourist attractions, etc. I was there on a business contract but had two days to kill before my apartment would even be ready. The clerk even gave me a 20% off coupon for the local Denny's and pointed out that it was about 1/4 mile up the hill from the corner of the Main street and was open 24 hours (small town, hard to find anyplace to eat late, very helpful info)

The room was clean and, although not recently updated was not really shabby. The carpet was clean. The room itself did not seem musty or dusty (keep in mind that Barstow is high desert and I was traveling in summer). The AC worked well and the staff was kind enough to have it turned on. This was important as I arrived in 108 degree temperatures.
The bed linens and bathroom linens were clean. The bath/shower/toilet, etc all appeared clean.

The internet and basic cable worked well. There was plenty of parking. IThe bed was comfortable and I slept well.

I'd give 4 stars if there had been a micro or a fridge or if the internet hadn't cost an additional $2.99 a night. The 3 stars isn't an indicator of any unhappiness with this motel. I actually highly recommend it. The 3 stars is an indicator of the number/ amount of services provided and 3 stars is at the upper end for a budget motel, indicating that I am VERY happy with this budget motel and highly recommend it to any traveler on a budget.
