“Stay somewhere else”

About the only thing we liked about this Inn was its location on the town square. The website stated that the rooms are "elegant, comfortable and historic" . Well, ours dowdy, cramped, and in an added-on wing in the back. The cramped parking lot was right outside our window and the service trucks parked right there - we could reach out and touch them. Some of the staff congregated in the alcove several doors down from us and were quite noisy. The ceiling was low, there was insufficient space for our luggage, the bed was saggy, and the halls were narrow. The lady at the front desk was cool and clipped - no feeling of warmth or welcome. Staying here was not a pleasant experience

“Quaint rest in Concord”

I was there in winter and it was surprisingly busy. It has an onsite restaurant which was nice. There is no elevator and the stairwells are quite narrow, but the staff is more than willing to help you get your luggage upstairs. There is a labrynth of staircase (small and narrow), but it quite charming. The rooms are small but are comfortable. The TV in my room could be upgraded. They do have cable and internet the my TV was lacking in color and was a model from the 90's. If you are use to modern hotels this may not be for you. You really have to like the charm and style of a early hotel. Parking is a bit crazy, there is a few dozen spots in the back, but I can imagine in the summer or at high times you are going to need to park on the street (if possible) or I know they said you could park in the church parking lot located kitty corner to the Inn. You are in the heart of Concord, which has really cute shops, and well within a good hike-walking distance (in good weather) to many of the shops/restaurants in the city.

“Concord's Colonial Inn is very nice!”

I stayed at the Inn in January 2012 and found the room to be clean comfortable and, for an older hotel, to be well maintained. Parking is very conveniently located at the back of the hotel but requires the use of stairs to get to the front desk. The main part of the hotel is very nice (built in 1716) and the staff was great. As the layout is a little confusing the desk clerk walked me to the guest room hallway so I wouldn't get lost! I ate in the casual bar and thought the food was good with outstanding service. I would stay there again!

“Didn't stay here, but stopped in for food...”

This review will be short. Again, we didn't actually STAY at the Inn, but as we were touring Concord, decided to stop in for food. The food was decent / average, if (at the time) a little pricey, which we expected. We had a buffet, and so had to make our way through the building to get to the food, which we took advantage of to check out the interior. It seemed dark and cozy enough, but I've no idea what the rooms are like.

We ate on the deck, with friendly, pleasant service. I would've given 4 stars had the price been a bit lower, and the food quality a bit higher.

“Just say no to the Colonial Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

My husband and I arrived after a long day to check into our previously booked room at the Colonial Inn. We hadn't stayed there before but it looked lovely from the outside.

We got there and were told that they were out of rooms at the inn so had been upgraded to a suite at Rebecca's Guest House, part of the property. So we trudged down the street with our luggage and found what we thought was the guest house. It had no sign. The front porch was dimly lit and the stairs were covered in wet leaves. We used our key to open the front door and arrived in a lobby of what seemed to be a low rent apartment building. Oh no! Then we looked for our room. The numbers on the doors didn't match the room number we'd been given or the key! So we just started trying doors until one opened.

We arrived inside of the room. It was furnished with what look like used furniture from a frat house. The carpet was stained. The light switch in the bedroom was missing a cover and the bedroom was about 10 feet from the main road. Yuck!

So we trudged back to reception and got absolutely no satisfaction! We'd pre-paid and were unable to get a refund for 2 nights. We left and found another much nicer place to stay. It was well worth spending the money instead of staying in this sad worn hotel.

I'm so glad we didn't stay having just read the reviews about bedbugs.

Room Tip: Find one in another hotel. The Amerscot Inn in Stow and the Samuel Fitch House in Westford are both...
