The Hotel is very nice--clean, good service, and with a great breakfast which is included in the room price. However, we had some problems with it:
1. Although they have air conditioning, it only works during the summer months. However, La Herradura is warm even during non-summer time. The rooms got really hot, so we opened the sliding doors--for about 30 minutes, when we realized how noisy it was outside. The hotel is located on the main street that leads out of La Herradura, so cars, motorcycles, and people were around there all the time. The noise was so incredible we choose to sleep with the door closed even though we were hot and uncomfortable throughout the night. If you don't get hot easily or if you go when their air conditioner is working, this shouldn't be a problem for you.
2. The walls in the hotel are thin. We could hear people in the rooms next to us and walking in the hall way. Whenever someone knocked on someone else's door, we would think they were knocking on our door. Because of this, it gets really noisy at night.
3. The hotel staff was incredibly nice and helpful--if you speak Spanish. I speak Spanish so they were great, but my husband does not speak Spanish. They could never understand what he said, but rather than letting him know they didn't understand, they would just nod, smile and say "yes" or "of course." Because of that, we almost lost the reserved tickets to the Alhambra (they nodded, smiled and said "of course" when my husband requested a wake up call--which we did not get. When I asked why they had not done the wake-up call, they asked me what a wake-up call was). We finally figured out what was happening and after that, only I talked to them in Spanish and they were great.
Summary: Great price; great breakfast; great service in Spanish. Very noisy.
