In all of our extensive travels here and abroad, we've come to expect great quality from the Marriott properties. When in Atlanta for a family visit before Thanksgiving, it was only natural for us to look for a Marriott property for our stay. Buckhead is a high-end area of Atlanta that boasts great shopping, dining and businesses. It is a clean and upscale part of Atlanta that we quite enjoy. The Fairfield property though, was quite lacking. The decor is older, needing a fresh, updated look, the hallways were a bit dirty (granted the parking lot was full of dead leaves that kept getting blown in), there were cracking in the walls, molding and just an over-all dingy appearance. If you're in need of a beverage or a snack, unlike most Marriott properties, you won't find the 'store' where you can purchase them. Instead, on the first floor, you'll only find a vending machine that will charge about $1.75 for a small bag of chips. Oy. It just seemed that this hotel, considering it is on a major street in Buckhead needed an overhaul. Our room # sign by our door fell off during our stay, which only added irony to the visit. The parking lot is limited, and shared with an office/apartment complex, so be wary that you may find trouble getting a spot late at night. Next time, we will definitely forgo this hotel and find either another Marriott property or another property brand altogether.
