I didn't make the reservations at this hotel as we were part of a group. After reading some of the reviews, I was prepared to bolt after one night. The reality was the place was really, really good. Yes, it's a budget hotel but doesn't act like one. There is another recent positive review that says everything I would say. I'll just add that the waffles were Belgian waffles and there were 2 waffle makers, so no wait even with a crowd. As for fruit, they also had prepackaged fruit cups in the fridge with the milk. The pool was clean and just the right temp. There is also a small walled courtyard off the pool area that was clean and neat and had ashtrays. The pool area was guest key access only and off the lobby with windows facing the lobby, so felt very safe. Parking was plentiful and convenient. I am a smoker and although the rooms are nonsmoking, I felt safe going out any of the 3 exits, even late at night. It is a small hotel (5 floors) so nothing is too far away. It has 2 elevators, which meant no waiting. Every staff person I saw was friendly and accomodating. Desk clerks greeted guests whenever they came through the lobby and were never too busy to answer questions. There was a security guard visible every night I was there. As far as places to eat within walking distance, I only saw two. One looked expensive, and the other (Buckhead Diner) looked like, well, a diner but is really a more upscale restaurant so don't be fooled thinking it will be fast food! Had a great burger there, though ($11). There was a Subway you could walk to if you felt energetic but it is just as easy to drive somewhere. We did get a menu from one delivery place: the "Wok and Roll." The location was about 15 mins from downtown (part interstate) and about 20 mins from Stone Mtn (all local roads) Both were easy drives following the GPS. In summary, if I ever need to return to Atlanta I would definitely stay here again.
