“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Stayed here for two nights and was surprised at the level of service and accommodations. The front desk, concierge, shop people were all friendly and helpful They have a nice little sandwich (to-go) shop in the lobby. Unlike a lot of places that get there retail food from a big processor, these items are made in-house (according to the cashier at least). Fresh fruit, salads, wraps, etc. Better than most places. Room wise, it is standard Marriott fare. Flat panel TV, desk, plenty of outlets (without having to crawl around the floor). The $14.95/day internet was sort of a rip-off, that seems a bit higher than most which seem to charge $9.95/day (a smaller rip-off, but still overpriced IMHO).

“Excellent hotel, love staying here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I travel to Atlanta for work and really enjoy staying at this hotel. I have not met anyone who worked for the hotel that was not friendly and accomodating. The workout facility is excellent and easy to access. The Concierge lounge is great for breakfast and gathering. The beds are nice and comfy. And it is an excellent location in downtown Atlanta.

“Best Dragon*Con Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We stay here every year for Dragon*Con if we can. The weekend is super busy, overcrowded and overwhelming at times, and our room in the Marriott is always an oasis for us to come to. The staff are very welcoming and do everything possible to make our stay a good one.

The breakfast buffet at Sear is amazing, although I usually just get the fritata, which is great every time.

The Starbuck's line is usually very long, but it moves very quickly.

The fitness center is AMAZING for a hotel and unlike so many fine hotels, they do not charge extra for the privilege of using it.

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This was a good hotel to stay at for business. I was on the 29th floor and didn't have any problem with noise. The bad: Well I couldn't get the room warm. Probably 90% of people like rooms colder than I do, but I like a hotel room above 75 degrees. The thermostat has been on 80 degrees for 48hours and the temperature barely made it to 76 so far. Also the bathtub was not that clean upon arrival. Man have I developed a pet peeve for semi-clean rooms. Finally, the internet is $14.95 a day, which I would never pay. Otherwise, this hotel has some really great visual aspects. In addition, the location is good, and the various options to eat/drink within the hotel are nice. I had the Quesadilla salad from High Velocity, which was bland and overdressed...yawn. Overall, I would stay here again, knowing to bring a sweatshirt and order the fries.

“Very Good Marriott Property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stayed at the Marriott Marquis over the MLK Weekend and have to say, I was truly impressed. The front desk staff went over and beyond the call of duty, and were extremely professional. When I arrived, it was a bit before check-in time and at first, all they had available was a room on the 18th floor. The front desk person (I don't remember her name) took an extra second and located a room with a king bed on the 34th floor! Smiling ear to ear, I went to the room.

The room itself is a bit small, but it's a hotel room, not an apartment. The bed was extremely comfortable, the view magnificent, and it was very clean. The bathroom was a bit small, but the shower was very relaxing with good water pressure and a constant temperature. Plenty of channels on the TV to watch if you chose not to go anywhere.

Speaking of.....the hotel has its own Starbucks, a convenience store, and a full service bar, restaurant, pool and fitness center. Needless to say, this hotel has plenty to do, eat and drink on site....albet it is not cheap!

Parking is a bit steep at (I believe) $32 per night, but you can save that money and take the MARTA - which is directly connected to the hotel. You have to take the elevator to the Atrium level and the passageway starts near the "Loft". It'll take you through a office tower and a mall before leading you to the train station. This passage closes at night though, but the area directly outside of the hotel didn't seem overly dangerous. Just use common sense as in any major city.

The only reason why it is not a 5-star stay is because during the last day of my stay, the fire alarm went off in the hotel, and because the atrium is open all the way to the top of the hotel, regardless of what floor the alarm sounds, you will hear it. There was NO announcement or direction stating whether it was a drill, a test, or a false alarm. I found this a little strange (and a little scary), especially in a 49-story tower.

I will be back to this hotel, however. It was an excellent place.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a much better view!
