“Moved to Another Hotel”

Reserved a two-room suite. Upon entry, carpeting was filthy. Filthy meaning food and beverage stains - all over. There were crumbs on one of the stools by the breakfast bar in the kitchen. There were crumbs and old ketchup packets on top of the refrigerator. Due to the condition of the room we decided to leave. I reserved another room at a different hotel in the area, we packed up our things and left. I know I could have at least tried to request to change rooms, or perhaps get a refund?, but decided not to on account of not wanting to risk moving to another room to find the same conditions. It was late, and we were tired.

Positive point... Front desk receptionist was kind, knowledgeable and helpful during check-in. In retrospect, I should have given her the chance to correct the situation or at least notified her of the situation.

My suggestion to the manager.... if replacing the older carpeting is not an option, have the carpets in the rooms professionally cleaned. Check the work being "done" by the Housekeeping staff.... they're ripping you off and you're going to lose more business if they're not held accountable. Please check out the carpet in room 220.

“conservative”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

the hotel was clean, hostess at the desk was courtious. Did not have coffee in the lobby every morning and we had to run in the rain to meet the MARTA train to get downtown. We did, however, have much fun at the experience.

Room Tip: rooms are fairly spacious, very clean; view was an empty lot

Typical great service for the Holiday Inns. good location for the events we had planned to see on vacation. Only discomfort was the pool was closed.

Room Tip: we had the two bedroom suite with 3 people. worked well.

“Would not stay here again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel for five days while attending a conference in the area. My room was large and felt "homey" which was nice. The staff were friendly. The furnishings were old but the room was fairly clean. I had to change rooms the second night due to problems with the water. Would have been nice if someone would have helped me move my things as I was staying there by myself. The shuttle picked me up from my conference every day and was at least half an hour later than I was told they would be each time leaving me standing outside alone every night after everyone else had left. Breakfast and the complimentary dinner did not look appetizing. I didn't eat either. I opened a creamer for coffee in the lobby and it was bad so that was the end of that. I will be returning in July for another week attending the next part of my conference and will definitely not stay here again.

I wish to apologize that we did not meet your expectations during your recent stay with the Holiday Inn Express Atlanta-Buckhead. We strive to provide our guests with excellent service and accommodations.

With regard to the water issue, we had just installed a new water heater and were experienceing some difficulties in regulating it. I do apologize there was not a staff member available to assist you with moving rooms. We generally have a houseman on duty to assist with such matters. I am looking in to why no one was available to assist you.

In speaking with the General Manager regarding your issues, he informed me that he had also discovered there were some 'bad' coffee creamers out. He had the packed up (a whole case) and called the vendor to have them returned and replaced with fresh. I feel maybe one or two got away during the pack up. We do keep fresh milk, half and half and 2% on the coffee bar as well as the pre-packaged flavored creamers.

Our shuttle service is on an 'on-call' basis. It is very difficult for our front desk staff to estimate travel times as the van is servicing other guests and traffic in Buckhead can be very heavy. Our normal 'wait times' range from 15 to 30 minutes depending upon where the driver had to make pick ups or drop offs.

Again, I apologize for your less than perfect experience at the Holiday Inn Express Atlanta-Buckhead. We would hope you would give us another chance when you have to come back to Atlanta. If you wish to further discuss your situation, please feel free to contact me directly.

Yours truly,

Marsha Heard

“Great Bargain in Buckhead”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

I have stayed at this hotel about 20 times this year and it never disappoints. The location is on Pharr Road in Buckhead and the price is excellent! The location is near Lennox, Phipps and award winning restaurants. I check in, park my car (free parking) and their free shuttle takes me to shop, dine and enjoy anything I can within a 4 miles radius. The rooms are very nice and clean and the beds and linens are wonderful. One thing you should know about this hotel is that there is no elevator so do request a room on the first floor. If you are traveling alone there are a few rooms that are accessible from the lobby so I would ask about those also. This hotel is the best kept secret in Buckhead. The staff is super friendly and they have a wonderful free breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for room on first floor near the lobby
