“Adjacent to Conference Center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This hotel is adjacent to a conference center (no need for going out in rain or snow) which is the primary reason for using this hotel. It is super convenient if attending any one of the convention center events. That said, the signage to find the convention center is not very good.
There is free parking on the premises. Although it is close to the interstate, make sure you have proper directions, because it is tucked away behind the convention center and not on a major road.
Inside, the hotel is an atrium type with 14 floors. When we visited, the atrium looked rather sterile. They must have recently cut back their plants, because you didn't really see any greenery from below. They made a big deal about their teak bells which were pretty when hit by sunlight. Otherwise, they kind of blended in. Because it's an atrium hotel, you have a bank of elevators on one side of the atrium. If your room is close to the elevators, it may be noisy, but if you are on the opposite side, it can be quite a hike.
The rooms were very nice, with everything very clean and well maintained. Because it is a convention hotel, the expectation is that you are on an expense account. That means that there is a charge for the bottled water sitting in your room and if you decide to use the wi-fi. The buffet breakfast is a flat $17. Fortunately, there are some restaurants located around the convention center and across the street at the Cumberland Mall. The only time we ate at the hotel was for breakfast at the lobby coffee shop. The prices there were very reasonable if you prefer a pastry and coffee in the morning. I'd stay here again for the convention convenience.

“Nice hotel but we obviously picked the wrong weekend to stay there!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I surprised my husband by booking this hotel for his 40th birthday. We stayed during the King Holiday weekend and unfortunately, that ended up being a HUGE mistake! Apparently, they have some type of children's convention there during that weekend every year and many of the kids were obviously unsupervised and very loud. We complained to the front desk several times about the noise (loud talking, slamming of doors, etc.) and eventually, security was sent up to deal with them. I made management aware of my experience and they graciously mailed me a voucher for a free weekend stay as a way of apologizing. I was pleased with their attempt to rectify the issue and satisfy us as customers. Aside from that experience, the hotel itself was very clean and the staff was super courteous. There are many nice amenities adjacent to or across from the hotel so the convenience of that was great! Even without the free voucher, I would stay there again, just not during the MLK Holiday Weekend.

“A Night At The Waverly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The room was great, the room amenities were exceptional, and the room was spacious with a work area. The only negative is that the particular room was right across from the elevator, and some do not realize that doors to rooms are not sound proof. High level voices coming off the elevator are not appreciated during the night.

All was quite good at this property - except ... parking was quite bad. The spaces were very narrow, and people seemed to park as if there were no lines to park between. Thankfully parking is free.

The breakfast restaurant offerings were many, and my wife and I chose the buffet with made to order omelets. There is a cost for the breakfast.

The location is easy to get to at I-285 and I-75 on the north side of Atlanta and walking distance to Cumberland Mall.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is not near the elevator.

“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights along with a few thousand kids and families attending a theater competition in the convention center. The rooms are nice and well worth the $109 we paid per night. Comfortable beds. The hotel is one big atrium surrounded by the rooms. It is a beautiful layout but the echo of kids in the atrium can creep into your room. Granted we were there for a kid event:)

We ate in 2 of the restaurants and enjoyed the Starbucks coffee and pastries in the lobby. Food was good in both restaurants but service staff needs work. Service was very slow and our server was clearly overwhelmed by larger groups. On another occasion we ordered lunch (we were the first couple in the restaurant that day) and after waiting 45 minutes and not getting food or getting a visit from our server again we left. Luckily there is a Subway and Chickfila in the convention center a short walk away. Breakfast buffet was good (not much service required).

The attached convention center was very convenient. We had numerous events over the weekend and didn't have to go out into the cold. A mall is a short walk away (through an outside tunnel/bridge) with PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory and Maggianos.

Parking is free. Internet is $14.95 for 24 hours. The hotel has quick access to two major interstates (285 and 75) which can get you to downtown Atlanta or the airport. Estimate 20 minutes or so barring any major traffic jams (which I understand are frequent in Atlanta).

Room Tip: There are some great restaurants nearby!
