I stayed at the Renaissance Concourse hotel for a few days of meetings. I had the AAA rate of $89 which was much better than the rate for the block of rooms that were reserved for the meeting, so if you have AAA definitely check the rate. I was given a "city view" room instead of an airport view. I would definitely recommend you try to get an airport view room, if you're at all interested in watching the planes take off and land (which is something I could watch for hours). The "city view" room looked over a parking lot and the only "city" I could see were the golden arches of the macdonald's a few blocks away. Either way, the rooms are very quiet - you won't hear all the air traffic, which was great. The rooms were really clean, the service was excellent. The only thing is, if you plan to take baths, forget about it. I had the tiniest little bathtub I have ever seen. It was not only short in length but in height as well (It came half way to my knee!) I didn't use the pool but I did use the gym, which had more (and better quality) equipment than I expected. The service and food in the lounge was also very good.
For the meetings, the meeting rooms were excellent, and the serving and management staff for the convention area were polite and attentive and very helpful. The catered food was really good, much better than expected. Front desk staff were also very very polite and helpful, and made me feel very welcome.
The only problem I experienced was with the complimentary hotel shuttle which is supposed to run every 20 minutes. When I arrived in Atlanta and went to find the shuttle it wasn't there. There were a few shuttles from other hotels waiting so I asked one of the drivers if he knew when it would show up. I said I had 30 minutes to get to the hotel for my meeting; he said it was doubtful that it would get there in time, so he actually said "let me take you there" and drove me there himself - had to drop me off at the driveway because as he is from a different hotel, wasn't allowed on the grounds. Also when I was leaving, the shuttle did not come for more than 45 minutes (as I was panicking about missing my flight, I went back inside and asked the bell staff and front desk staff repeatedly about the ETA of the shuttle and asked them to call a cab for me, and they kept saying "right around the corner, 2 minutes away!" Then, when the shuttle finally came, we told her that we were really cutting it close for our flights and we needed to get to the airport right away (the driver said that there was a mix up with one of the drivers taking a break too early, and that's why the 12:20 shuttle didn't come at all and this shuttle was quite late as well). So we get half way to the airport, which is just a 10 minute drive, and the driver got a call from the hotel to come back and pick up another guest, which really bothered me considering this added yet more time to the trip. So my word of advice to you: do not assume the shuttle will run every 20 minutes (or even every 40 minutes). If you want to use the complimentary hotel shuttle make sure you have time to wait.
Other than the issues with the shuttle (which maybe I'm being naive to think it would run on schedule), my stay was comfortable and clean. I definitely recommend the Renaissance Concourse and would stay there again.
Room Tip: Ask for airport view.
