I started a recent road trip from Atlanta. There aren't many inexpensive hotels in downtown Atlanta but picked the Days Inn as it was not pricey and had had some good reviews on Trip Adviser.

I turned up late on Sunday night and got checked-in quick. The man on reception pointed me the direction of restaurants that were still open that time of night and he gave me a good place for breakfast.

Sure the hotel could do with some sprucing up. The features are faded and dated. But it was clean and safe in a great location. I walked to MLK historic area within 20 minutes and the World of Coca-Cola the Georgia Aquarium are right behind the hotel. The CNN centre is a short walk through the Centennial Park - and if you do go to the CNN Centre make sure to stop off at McCormick and Schmicks, get there at 4pm for the happy hour menu.

We had to adopt to the timezone and decided to stay for two nights in Atlanta. The location was great and we enjoyed the Georgia Aquarium.
However - everything in the hotel felt dirty - touching things wasn't really nice. My first suggestion was to remove all the old dirty carpets and the hotel would definitly have a better look and feel.
When you have a car you should definitely try something further away from the center.. you have to pay for parking at this hotel anyway so you can b better pay for the attractions parking..

This was a horrible experience for me starting from the time I made the reservations. First, I booked a room for two for two nights, the total price was suppose to be $154.45. and it had to be pre-paid, no refunds for anything. Ok, I don't plan on cancelling so I go ahead. They charged my account $1550.00. I would blame a typo, but how do you get $1550.00 from $154.45, After I finally got that straightened (out without an apology, discount or anything) I get down there, the Hotel is dirty, old, hot inside, I dont know if they just didnt want to use the a/c in the lobby or not, but it wasn't pleasant. The carpets in the hallways were dirty and stained. They also charge $15.00 a day to park in their run down lot and have the nerve to post a sign that they are not responsible for damages. The pool is dirty, one end at the bottom looked like it was covered in something black, it had trash and leafs everywhere else. Ok, I'm already down there, I will stick it out. I start to craw in bed the first night and there are pen marks on the sheets. Do they get bleached and are they really clean? The next day I go to get in the shower and there is a black curly hair on the shower wall, I have long blonde hair. The electrical outlet is coming off the wall. The floor in the bathroom is dirty, well dirty or so stained from yr's of not getting throughly cleaned. The hotel staff is rude. I'm glad to get out of this place. I get home, check my account again and there is another charge for $155.00. WTH??? I didn't order room service and they don't have it anyway. The only time I used the phone was to call the front desk on Sunday morning when the fire alarm was going off and a recording stating to evacutate the building and not use the elevator's. I have a woman in a wheelchair, how am I suppose to get us both down 10 flights of stairs? (It turned out to be a false alarm, but the receptionist was still rude about it).. I still haven't gotten my $155.00 charge straightened out. But I can guarentee I will never stay at a Days Inn anywhere. I do have pic's of some of the stuff to back up what I am saying if they will post on here! The ONLY good thing about this hotel is it is only 2 blocks from the Ga. Aquarium, Coke Museum and Centinnial Park.

I spent 3 nights in this hotel as part of a group in Atlanta that needed to stay near the world congress center. It's proximity to the WCC (about a 10 minute walk) and the MARTA are the only things I can recommend.

The hotel is in obvious disrepair. One member of my party had to change rooms in the middle of the night because the ceiling started leaking brackish water on them. Another changed rooms because their initial room smelled like urine (so do the hallways). The elevator takes about 5 minutes to groan and strain and pull itself from the ground floor to the sixth floor. My room had paint peeling from the ceiling, burned carpeting, stained upholstery on the chairs, a TV with an aging CRT and washed out color, and the sliding door to the balcony did not open. But, since I wasn't being rained on in the middle of the night or choking on the odious smell of urine, I decided to count my blessings and live with the "cosmetic imperfections" of my room.

I would not advise patrons to venture outside at night, the neighborhood is sketchy. I am not surprised that another reviewer mentioned prostitution nearby.

I am not one to normally write negative reviews, but in this instance I think it is a public service. The photographs of this hotel on Days Inn's Web site don't tell the whole story. This is a hotel that has been neglected, and I would not recommend it. In fact, if there hadn't been a convention tying up all of the other hotels in Atlanta, I would not have stayed past the first night. It is worth your money to spend a bit more to stay elsewhere.

I stay in downtown Atlanta in the summer annually for DragonCon. I've stayed at two other hotels, that are admittedly of higher caliber, namely the Hyatt and the Westin. Nonetheless, they'll be what I'm comparing this one towards. The Days Inn is about 1 block from the Hyatt and Westin so in location they're very comparable. You can walk to just about anything from here.

The rooms are standard but decent. The bathrooms are horribly crowded. The sink and mirror is separate but in full view of the rest of the room. Essentially you walk in and have to walk between the sink/mirror on one side and the bathroom on the other to get to the main part of the room. The mirror is poorly lit and not recommended for makeup application. The bathroom itself is miniscule and you can't sit down on the toilet and open the door at the same time. Not that anyone would necessarily want to do that, but it conveys the size fairly well.

The TV size is good and mine worked fine. The room itself is somewhat tiny, but it does have a small balcony. The bedding was acceptable, but not plush. Still I was comfortable at night even more than I was at the Hyatt, where I woke with back pain.

You get a coffee maker with generic coffee and one packet of generic sweeteners and creamer. There's no tea. You can ask for extra though, and they're pretty accomodating about it.

All in all there was nothing objectionable about the hotel. I paid $49/night on Hotwire and was well pleased with what I got for the money. There simply is no comparing it to the Westin (my personal favorite in the area), but to be honest though the furnishings are less impressive, the rooms are fairly comparable in size to the Hyatt (International tower). If you're here to do things in the area, and don't really care if you're surrounded by luxury when you're unconscious, the price and location can't be beat.

Parking is $15/night, which is comparable with other lots in the area, and way cheaper than parking at the Hyatt or Westin.
