“Tolerable for One Night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My expectations of this class of hotels (Hilton Gardens, Hyatt Place) is fairly high as they all compete for the same business travelers. Since I have Marriot Rewards, in general I prefer to stay at Marriots. However, I feel that I made a mistake by staying here.

For starters, the hotel is located essentially off an exit rampt to I-85. Guess what that means? If your room is on the side facing the interstate (as mine was), it's going to be loud. There must be no sound insulation whatsoever within the walls.

Also loud was the AC/heater unit. When I turned it off to try to get a quieter night, the room quickly warmed up--so much so that I had to go turn it on again.

The hotel itself is nicely appointed. The lobby and the rooms have evidently been updated recently, and the HD tv had a great picture. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. Service was very good, which is why I gave the hotel an extra point on the overall scale. One downside: the hotel has recently begun charging for parking, which I think is ridiculous.

Room Tip: If possible, request a room on the opposite side of the interstate.

“Good choice close to Midtown Atlanta”

Stayed one night at this hotel in early January.

Good Courtyard with friendly staff and large modern lobby.

Close to bars and nightlife of Midtown Atlanta and directly connected to the highway.

The only con would be the high nightly cost of parking.

“Home away from Home”

My husband and I just got back from a stay at the Courtyard Atlanta Midtown/Ga Tech. It was surprisingly nice. The rooms were cheerful and looked recently updated. I always check for the dreaded bedbug before unpacking. Not only did I not find any it was the cleanest mattress I'd ever seen in a hotel and I slept well on it. The hotel staff was great and Irena in housekeeping was there every morning with a smile and a what can I do for you attitude. They also have a bistro in the lobby open in the morning and evening. It has soup, sandwiches, pizza, wings and appetizers, etc.Starbucks coffee is served and they have a great breakfast. Now this isn't free but well worth what we spent on it. It was absolutely delicious. It it's also a happy
gathering place and more like a restaurant atmosphere than a lobby. As you can tell I was very happy there. One more thing..they have a free shuttle within 2 miles of the hotel. My husband took this downtown and back every day.

Room Tip: I was on the 4th floor (room 407) overlooking the courtyard. It was a nice quiet spot.

“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

I stayed here in May and loved it. It was a busy time because many schools were hosting graduation ceremonies (which is why I was there) but that didn't take away from the friendly & professional service. The room was standard but up-to-date and very comfy. Cabs are easy to get. The location is a bit out of the way but it is close to a major roadway so if you have a car, it works well. In addition, it is walking distance to several transit stations.

Great value with AAA membership card!

“Good Value for a Courtyard Marriott”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

This hotel was a good value for the money. It was clean, well kept, and had a modern feel. Similarly the rooms were nice and comfortable. On the other hand, the rooms also felt slightly cramped and the lighting could have been improved. While most of the staff was helpful, the desk clerk I asked for directions didn't wasn't very helpful.

Overall I would say that this place is a toss up - if you're in the area then stay here but but don't go out of your way.

Room Tip: Be sure to try the Silver Skillet for breakfast, it's a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
