I've stayed at this hotel several times, and will pay a bit more to stay here if I have to choose (I tend to reserve rooms on location and then price, but I'd pay more to stay here).
Hotel staff is almost without fail friendly/courteous and most importantly quick/efficient. I've never had a bad experience dealing with this hotel's staff - and I've been here probably 12-15 times over 6+ years.
The hotel is a great location if you want to be in Midtown - with a block or two of the Woodruff Arts Center. It's also only about 2 blocks from the Marta Arts Center train stop - so I never rent a car when I stay here.
The rooms are big, all suites, and have windows that OPEN! If you love fresh air - this is huge. Most rooms have balconies. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms clean and spacious. I love having a separate shower from the tub (although even having a tub these days is somewhat dated in a hotel).
There are 2 pools - 1 inside and 1 out; not the best for lap swimming but better than most hotels.
I think this hotel sometimes gets a bad rap because it's colored a hideous mauve color - which makes it look even more dated and tacky, but get past that - it's a fantastic hotel in a great location. I'd choose it over the W just down the block.
Side note: If you're a Marriott Rewards members, I've gotten awesome deals here over published rates (not always, but look for them with your Marriott Rewards membership).
