For a Staybridge--in Buckhead--I expected some elegance. It was clean, but Spartan.
It looked more like a nice Days Inn or Motel 6, than a Staybridge Suites. The parking was free and protected with an underground garage that opened right into the hobby lobby.

But there was no ornamentation or decoration to denote the lobby. No planters or outdoor carpet.

Inside, the rooms were very basic, and the towels and bedding were very basic, and the mattress felt like foam rubber.

The breakfast the next morning was running late, and there was not a large variety of choices at breakfast.

This was my first trip to Atlanta. I traveled with an experienced Atlanta traveler and we decided on this property. It's located in Buckhead, but we did not really have time to go out in the area, which is well known as a great area to go out in. Most of our time revolved around the SEC Championship Game and events downtown. Still, staying at this property worked out well. The free shuttle will take you to the Marta stop, where its just a few minute ride on the train to downtown ($2.50 for one way trip on train). A cab ride will cost about $22 to downtown. The room was good size, breakfast was decent and the staff was friendly. There is an indoor pool which looked clean but we did not use. The property itself seems slightly dated, but for the price, this property is a definite alternative to pricier downtown hotels. I would have no objection to staying here again.

The location is ideal in Buckhead because it's right off of Peachtree, but near some wonderful shopping and restaurants (Atlanta Fish Market is right down the street). Unlike many of the area hotels, there is absolutely no charging for the parking and the best part is that its garage parking with access to the garage right from your floor. The front rooms are loud though because they face the main road and there is a lot of loud traffic going by. Room was not very quiet either, as our neighbors had a barking dog the whole weekend and we would not be able to change rooms without paying an upcharge. The breakfast was very nice and the staff was very friendly. The room could definitely use some upgrades, as the carpet is a little worn and the toilet seat actually leans to the left (we stayed in room 215). We are repeat visitors of Staybridge, as it is one of our favorite hotels, but this one was pretty average at best and wasn't as comfortable as the others we've stayed at.

We stayed one night. The pluses - there is free parking and they did let us have a late checkout, which we really appreciated, but the room was terrible. The carpet was filthy, lots of stains, the room and hallways smelled like smoke, and the refrigerator (at least the freezer) didn't work. We'd have asked for another room but had already been in another room that they originally gave us but which apparently wasn't ready and knew the carpet in there didn't seem particularly clean either so we figured why bother asking for another room when dirty carpet appeared to be common. We'd look elsewhere in the future.
