“Disappointed with Response”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and been satisfied with the rooms and price. This stay was a great disappointment. Room had kitchen which was a plus but the furnishings were scared and busted in places. Cabinet doors were broken, toilet kept running, toilet itself was loose attached to floor, large hole in vanity in bathroom, etc. There was pieces of dirt and paper on the floor when we arrived and when mentioning it to the staff they seemed very unconcerned. The have started charging for the internet service which didn't work and is very basic. That too was a disappointment. Overall this hotel needs work and some TLC.

“Just OK - depends on you and what you're looking for...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

This hotel is ok for what it is. There are pros and cons. It is definitely not the best of the best - but it is comfortable. I stayed for seven days before moving to my apartment and here are a few things:

1) Location: good if you have a car (but just as good if you don't). It is close to most things and attractions. If you don't have a car - well it is not so bad but be prepared to walk. There is a Marta station (Sandy Springs) near by, but you do have to walk through a building complex - it's roughly 10 minutes away, depending on how fast you walk. Plus, there is a bus stop near by. You can also walk to publix - but again this maybe 10 minutes or so. I liked the scenery, trees etc.

2) Staff - they were friendly and helpful. They helped me with directions and sending a fax (for free) and they pretty much tried to answer all my questions.

3) Amenities- this is a no frills hotel. They mention free complimentary deluxe breakfast. It's really not deluxe. It was just coffee (no tea!), bagels, muffins and fruit (apples and oranges only) - but this was fine for me. There is no restaurant on site, but there was a really good 'order inn' service that delivers straight to your room door - this was great! I had a problem with the internet though. It kept crashing and worked off and on throughout my stay. This was frustrating. When I complained - all I got was a customer service number. Not helpful - I had to just wait till the internet came back on. You can also print for free in this hotel - which I thought was great. Another thing is, they say they provide complimentary items such as: toothpaste etc.; but that was not actually in my room. No big deal - I just had to ask for it or there was vending machines that you could purchase little things like this from - so that was OK. Call charges/using the phone in your room was not bad at all. You get free local calls. (I made quite a few calls and my total bill upon checking out was $1!). The fitness centre was really just a small room with a treadmill and a few other items - didn't really use it to be honest.

4) Room - the room itself was OK. For a single traveller - it was more than enough for me. There was a sofa in the room, a nice big bed, refrigerator, AC, TV, toaster, microwave etc. It was clean - I will admit I saw one small bug, but that was it throughout the whole stay.

I thought this hotel was OK - it served my needs. I thought it was much better than the extended stay hotel which is literally next door (905 Crestline Parkway). It was not as close to things as I would have liked. I mean some reviews seem to indicate that things were right across the street - they are not! If you are prepared to walk a bit - then you're fine. Regardless, it was OK. I would stay again. I would say book well in advance for a good deal. I paid $40 per night, but booked months in advance. There was someone who wanted to stay an extra night and was told outrageous prices!

“Filthy and smells like Mildew.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

I should of known when I walked in the door and the smell that hit me...not to mention how loud and obnoxious the man at the front desk was, to turn around and run as fast as I can. My family and I stayed at this hotel for 4 days. When we first walked in the place was filthy. I always pull back bedspreads and bed coverings in any hotel when I first get there. The mattresses must of been 20 years old, the mattress pad on both beds, I probably picked out 30 hairs from them. Went into the bathroom and the toilet was absolutely filthy. Had brown stains and hair around toilet seat.. Luckily I carry cleaning supplies and Lysol to any hotel I go to. So I cleaned the whole room, from kitchen to floors, vacuum etc. No blankets on beds only bedspreads and they gave us 3 towels and washclothes for 4 people. Not to mention that the towels were paper thin, so I grabbed some of the pool towels and used them, they seem to be in better shape than the regular towels. Well I think the kisser was when I asked why the family I was with had a lower rate then I did and they told me that she made reservations a different way then I did so she got a lower rate. I don't know how she made reservations a different way when I did both of them. Not only did she get a lower rate but a much bigger and better room then we did. So lets go to breakfast.. The coffee was good but we had to keep asking for cream, bagels and muffins, it was like they were scared to put them out. Finally on day 2 I had enough and I said something to the manager Nesia, which I will say is a wonderful lady. After I told her about the room and the problems we had encountered she was very accommodating and gave us a night free because I had to clean the room. I really believe that she has the guest best interest at heart but it's hard to find good help anywhere. I will not take away from some of the people that work there because there were three workers that were outstanding. I think his name was James, and a young man that worked the front desk in the daytime when Tony wasn't there and the lady that works at night until 10 or 11 pm. So my final say is if I had to recommend this hotel to people, I would not.

“Total Piece of Crap!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2009

I unfortunately had to stay here for over a month due to relocation. The staffs from the Manager all way down to the Housekeepers are terrible! The rooms are old, the sheets have stains on them from prior guest, and the mattresses have bodily fluid stains on them from head to toe! The kitchen cabinets are in an awful condition, some even have mismatched colors (white and tan). They claim on their websites and brochures that they have "pillow top mattress" I NEVER saw that and I had to change rooms twice due to things breaking down! The fitness center and laundry room combo is in desperate need of repair! First time I dried my clothes the dryers didn't dry them complete and yes that continued my entire stay. To add to that a washing machine was broken for weeks and there is only 3 of them, kind of inconvenient don't you think! There were other issues here but I made the main points clear. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone not even an enemy! There are plenty of other quality hotels to stay in this area. Good Luck

“Fawlty Towers Redux”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2008

Fawlty Towers redux!

Three nights' stay at ExtStay Atlanta Perimeter ranks among our least satisfactory lodging experiences. Some of the more noteworthy events:

1. At check-in, the desk clerk hollered out, "You're in Room 203!" so loudly that everyone in the lobby now knew where we would be sleeping.

2. When I drew back the bedspread, the underside displayed several bloodstains and other body fluid markings. The bonus was the three black hairs on the holey blanket. My wife and I are both gray-haired codgers.

3. The drinking glasses in the cupboard were dirty--fingerprints and lipstick on the rims. Thankfully, we carry a small bottle of dish detergent with us. ExtStay kitchenettes provide dinnerware place settings for two and we are expected to wash up anything that we use. So, we wonder, why did they provide two dishrags and a dish towel in the kitchenette but no dish detergent?

4. While taking my shower, the water came up to my ankles due to the slow tub drain.

5. When we checked in, the desk clerk bragged about the Deluxe Breakfast that was served on weekday mornings from 7 to 9:30. Friday morning at 8:30, I went downstairs. Except for two pots of coffee, the breakfast room was bare. I flagged a passing housekeeper to ask and was told, "Well, we ran out of bagels!" So much for the Deluxe Breakfast.

6. ExtStay appears to have a remarkably acquisitive housekeeping staff. When we checked out, we forgot to take with us the two jars of Lingonberry preserves from IKEA and the canvas bag with most of a box of wine that we had placed in the compartment under the sink. We called the property when we returned home. The desk clerk told us to call her back after she checked the room to see if our items were still there.

I called back (no 800-number was offered; I paid for the calls) and she told me that the room had been made up and there was nothing under the sink. And that I should call back the next day to see if the housekeepers had placed our things in the lost and found.

Monday, I called back. The desk clerk offered to check and this time actually called me back on her dime to report that there was no trace on the premises of my belongings.

Our "missing" items were of nominal value, which adds to the mystery of their "disappearance." Unless someone on the staff there has a taste for Lingonberry preserves and cheap red wine.

We'd been loyal ExtStay Road Warriors for nearly 20 years. Don't know if there is a connection, but some years ago the ExtStay corporate was acquired by an investment company after which we began to note a general decline in housekeeping and maintenance. But never an experience like this one. Sad that our mutual association ends this way.
