“Disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

Room was filthy, front of kitchen cabinet had been shattered and the various pieces appeared to have been glued together, the bottom of the bathroom door looked like it had been gnawed by small animals, internet didn't work and the staff didn't appear to care, pillows were tiny squares of foam rubber. Had reservation for three nights but checked out after one -- and would have checked out sooner except we arrived too late to go somewhere else.

“There's a reason its cheap”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2010

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights when I traveled to ATL for an important meeting. I'm a grad student and broke, so the price was right for me. The minute I arrived at this hotel, I immediately understood why it was so cheap. The outside of this property is well laid-out, and the staff were friendly and efficient in checking me in. The room, on the other hand, was a total dump. The carpets were ancient and disgusting. The bed was squeaky, with old linens that were rough and synthetic feeling. The A/C wasn't loud, but wasn't silent either. The closets, TV/dresser, kitchenette and fridge were all sufficient. I have to say that I really liked the kitchen counter with barstools on it, and a convenient electrical outlet - this was a great place for me to set up shop with my laptop and get some work done. The bathroom was not terribly dirty and disgusting, but it wasn't exactly sparkling clean either, and the fixtures were very dated. There was chipping paint on the bathtub and toilet. The location was good - close to the highway, and a large strip mall with lots and lots of places to pick up good food and/or groceries. I brought some instant oatmeal, Easy Mac, coffee/tea and similar things and prepared a few meals in the room, and also picked up some meals to go and ate them in the room. Overall, I'd stay here again, but I wouldn't enjoy it :) I'd only stay because it is very cheap, and I felt relatively safe here.

“Avoid if possible”

Our family booked several rooms for our extended family. We picked it because it was a convenient location. But it was a bad choice on our part. Ugh, where do we begin:
- for one of the rooms, we had to change rooms 3 times :
- 1st room - wasn't cleaned. why provide a room that housekeeping hasn't gotten to?
- 2nd room - was smoke-infested (even though they claimed it was a non-smoking room)
- 3rd room - was ok, or so we thought, until you turned on the AC/Heat system -which blew out smokey air (again, a non-smoking room). so we switched again to the 4th room which we finally stayed in for the rest of our trip.
- we requested extra blankets. they provided us a blanket that was labeled "Do not use - holes". why would you give a guest a blanket that explicitly says "do not use"???
- half of the lights in the room did not work, or had broken switches
- in one of the rooms, the toilet was running. we tried to fix it ourselves, but after a day, it started running again.
- on the pull-out sofa, you can feel EVERY spring and the bar that goes across.
- the carpet had mysterious sticky spots
- overall, you don't really want to touch anything in the rooms. it was pretty gross.
- the security there was questionable: one morning in front of the hotel, there were cops patting down a guy and "taking him in"; on another night, we overheard the night watchmen and night attendant telling each other "if you see a guy wearing xxx around here, call the cops and arrest him right away"; and in general, there were sketchy people hanging around the parking lot at times.
- they claim it's a new hotel (built in 2004)... i'd add another 15+ years to that. and it's definitely not well maintained (e.g. the cabinets were falling apart) since it was built.
- this wasn't just our opinion - we had other friends who stayed only one night and checked out first thing the next morning due to the smokey room and the overall sketchiness of the hotel.

“Predictably good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2009

Standard for the Homestead Suites chain, and that means good. Good sized room, good sized kitchen, comfortable bed, helpful staff. Great value for money.

Wi-fi is charged at a reasonable $5 regardless of the length of your trip.

“Nice Hotel for a Nice Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2009

We were looking for a nice, lower priced hotel for our weekend stay for a concert in Piedmont Park. I chose this one because of it's location in Buckhead (one of the nicer parts of the city) and the fact that it was only 4 miles from the park. We stayed in a standard queen size bedroom. Boy, were we pleasantly suprised with it!

The good: Our room was spotless with no stains on the carpet or walls. This looks to be a newer hotel possibly. The landscaping was beautiful. It is definitely a great place to stay if you are planning a longer trip. The fridge is a good size and even had ice trays. The stove has two ranges. Our's had a new microwave and plenty of dishes you could wash and use (if you were ok with doing so). It also had a table with two comfy chairs and a really nice sized bathroom. The dresser has really deep drawers. The closet is large for a hotel room with ironing bored and iron inside. The air conditioner worked wonderfully. We had it on high the first night and nearly froze! It's in a quiet neighborhood and there's several fast food places within a minute or two drive. They are also pet friendly!

The bad: No pool. They only provide room service if you are there seven days, unless you request it for an extra charge. You have to go to the front desk and exchange your dirty towels for new ones (They give you four towels, hand towels, and wash cloths to begin with, though). No elevator, but it is only a two story hotel. The cable they provide only has 30 channels.

Overall, I thought this was a very nice and clean hotel for the price we paid. Most other hotels in that area were at least twice as much. It is very close to downtown and has a MARTA pick up right next to it if you're wanting to use their shuttle service. I would definitely stay here again if we venture to Atlanta in the future.
