I've stayed here several times before and always been happy. But not this time. We arrived late in the evening, and I requested a room that didn't have an adjoining room (those doors always allow a lot of noise through). The front desk person could not come up with one, besides on the club floor which they wanted to charge extra for. The person at the front desk assured me that the hotel was quite empty for the next 3 days (our stay length) and that they would not sell the room next door so we wouldn't have problems. I should have realized that if the hotel was so empty, they should have been able to move me. But I had been driving all day and just wanted to get to sleep. So, of course, the next night we get people next door who are LOUD. Like man & woman in bed loud. At this point they offered to move us to club floor, but it was too late. Kids were asleep and I didn't want to wake them up to move.
Then amidst this, I finally fall asleep and then the room phone rings at 11:30pm. Hang up call. Front desk could not tell me who the call was from. Probably someone to complain about the noise coming from the room next door.
To save money, it looks like the hotel has depowered one of the 2 elevators. I say this because in 4 days (3 nights) we never got the left elevator, and it's floor display was always blank. There was no sign that it was down for maintenance. This created many situations of waiting long periods for the elevator.
THere used to be a hot tub in the pool area, but they added a wall and a locked door - I guess that was discontinued. The pool, in the winter, is FREEZING COLD. It connects to an outdoor pool and all that separate them is a thin strip of plexiglass. They really need to heat the indoor pool. December - It was in the 50's outside (not freezing by any standard) and several families with kids ended up at the pool area and nobody could swim for more than a few minutes. My kids were shivering, and they are used to swimming in cold northern lakes.
A tip to some of the other travelers, skip the hotel restaurant and go to the Applebees right in the parking lot (set of stairs to the forward left when you exit the lobby). Decent food, good prices.
On the plus side, the ponds in the back are really nice to walk around.
Room Tip: ask for the pond side, nice views of the water.
