“A great week for a rugby loving family with Super Skills Travel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

“We have just returned from a week at the Forte Village on the Super Skills Travel Rugby week with coaching from Austin Healy, Will Greenwood, Jim Hamilton -Smith and the added bonus of Will's father Richard Greenwood. The aforementioned coaching team were very really nice guys, approachable and consistently excellent throughout the week catering for children of all abilities. They made the training sessions fun, kept the boys and girls attention throughout the daily 2 hour session, were sensible in what they did with the children and gave them regular breaks for water. The Super Skills team lead by Ed Rusling and Sally Littlestone were very much hands on, personable and helpful throughout the week. Everyone seemed to get on and have fun. Food at the hotel was good and there is a good range of activities apart from the Super Skills course (carting, bowling). If there was a downside it would be the accommodation which was a little cramped and the beds/pillows were uncomfortable and anything which was not already included in your package was expensive. Saying that we have rebooked for the next session in July.”

“Il Villaggio Bungalows”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

We had a great time on our short family holiday – me, my wife and our 4-year old daughter Maggie.

“Il Villaggio” is a complex of bungalows that are ideal for two people. There are larger bungalows but with a daughter who’s still only little we preferred to book a “basic” bungalow and let her sleep with us. What struck me most was how lovely the “il Villaggio” garden and park are, although the whole resort is very green.

The restaurant was good and the miniclub that keeps kids entertained was excellent. It allowed us to enjoy our holiday to the full without having to worry.
I would heartily recommend it to people with small children.

I actually spent my honeymoon here in September 2008. Overall I have lovely memories of the hotel but would not return or recommend the hotel, particularly to honeymooners with bottles of wine starting at 30 euros. We were lucky in that we had a package where we could dine at two of the several restaurants with a bottle of wine included (although we were not told about this; only discovered after enquiring after a meal on the first night where wine was not included). Bar drinks were incredibly expensive. I still have the drinks menu listing the unbelievable prices as I have never seen anything quite like it. On our first day, we spent about 30 euros on two toasted sandwiches and two soft drinks at lunch. We ended up stocking up our fridge from the little supermarket a short(ish) walk outside the grounds. Luckily, as honeymooners we had unlimited access to the amazing outside spa. There is no way we would have paid to go in otherwise. As honeymooners, we wanted a few spa treatments. I cant remember how much they were but they were ridiculously overpriced - well above the top-end treatments you would pay for in the UK. Another sore point was the room service. We asked time and time again for our dirty glasses to be removed and replenished in our rooms. They would promise to sort this out and didnt deliver. They brought us some champagne as an apology but the problem continued. We complained quite loudly again and they offered us an upgrade which we refused. All we wanted were clean glasses daily! They couldnt get the basics right!

Despite this, we so much enjoyed the spa, large pools and lushous grounds. The beach was lovely and the sea very warm but rough due to the high winds. The two restaurants we used most of the time were beautiful with one overlooking the beach which was very romantic. We stayed in il villagio? Bungalows in typical sardinian style with a little garden area where you could sit outside. The rooms were basic but comfortable. Despite being the cheaper accomodation option, I thought the rooms should have been luxurious given the prices the hotel was charging left right and centre.

The hotel entertainment on its huge outdoor stage was outstanding. The hotel was very lovely but I have rated its value very poorly as I felt the ludicrous prices were almost insulting to its guests who probably are used to 5 star hotels and pay accordingly and not as much!!r

Second visit - largely to satisfy my footy mad boy. 4hrs of organised football each day though the coaching can be variable they do pretty good with mixed ability, ages and nationalities. However, it wouldn't have happened without Abramovich having the idea in the first instance. Which sumd up the resort. So much more could be done but isn't.

Both years we've come back 3 out of 4 of us needing treatment for ear infections. No doubting that the pool water must be the cause as we don't go anywhere else. Never saw anyone checking the water the whole 4 weeks we've been there. Get sore ears then cough for the on-site doc and cortisone drops because they're only going to get worse.

This year 3 calls and 2 visits needed to get a shower curtain - essential because there is not enough hot water for a bath - even the shower you'll get 3 in a row done but not 4. Eventually had to pull the manager out the back room and it was fixed in 5 minutes along with posh dinner, free spa passes and champagne and fruit in the room but the damage was done. Two days in a row the air con packed in. There isn't a toilet in the resort with the flush not flapping about. So that's the other thing - its tired and needing investment. All the attention goes on the public areas. Another encounter was the purchase of a 1hr E10 internet access. Scratched off the code and couldn't get access, trudged back to reception - oh yes ther's a problem - been like it all day - then why sell me the damn thing without saying - aaarrgh!

To cap it all, this year they had 2 new comperes at the piazza show every night - dreadful. The house band are great but they just wanted to play and the audience just wanted to enjoy. Worst was the same script every night like clockwork 10:30 "If you don't dance the band will play only sad songs" followed by 'I will survive' and a disco set that failed to get the place going because they'd heard the same damn thing every night same time - bizarre.

On the plus side the resort is very safe, secluded, reasonable things to do, not too busy June / early July and the food is fine so long as you don't expect real cuisine. Both years they open and close restaurants without telling you which is the one you are supposed to be at but you get there in the end.

“beautiful grounds, great swimming, but expensive extras”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2009

Arrived to a very warm welcome at reception, with drinks and a ride to our room. somehow one of our bags got left in reception by the porters so we had to go back for it. The room was well set out with a separate sleeping area for our 2 boys but a little small. The bathroom had a shower without a curtain 2 foot from the door to our bed room which meant the floor got very wet and slippery. On arrival the room was clean but over the 2 weeks dust did build up in places. New sheets were provided daily but the cleaners didn't take care of our property and over the 2 weeks the boys lost 6 furry toys including the very favourite gerbil. Another family lost their pyjamas. Although the receptionists said they did all they could to find the missing items nothing of ours reappeared although we were given someone else's mouse as we left on the last day.

The grounds and swimming pools were excellent, large warm and deep enough for a proper swim. There was usually good sun loungers available and plenty of shady options. The boys loved the diving boards. The beach itself is a narrow strip of good quality sand and quite stony once in the water . It was always very crowded .

The buffet had a good range of sea food and pasta, although it became a repetitive there was always something to eat. If you arrived early enough there was often one tray of sushi which my son loved. We did wonder if it was left over from the japanese restaurant. We were told on arrival that we were entitled to free drinks with the meal. however this was one bottle of water between 2 and half a bottle of house wine per adult. All other drinks would be accompanied by a large bill eg 2 glasses of sprite for 9 euros. There was nothing to warn us before telling the boys they could have it. However go to the main gates and turn left; there is a supermarket 500m away where you can get 1.5l of sprite for 3 euros and lots of wonderful bread. Lunch time in the hotel was also very over priced 13 euros for a pizza etc. The breakfast buffet was great other than instant coffee unless you asked specifically for an expresso.

The kids club worked well and the boys loved go carting, and that was reasonably priced

Like a lot of places in the Med now, it was heavily Russian - the first week, we reckoned that the majority of guests were Russian, though the percentage in the second week was lower.
