“Basic Accommodations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We stayed at this hotel one night during a visit to the Lowell National Historic Park. The rooms are very small, but adequate for a short stay. It's located within 10 minutes of downtown Lowell and an easy on/off the highway, but it's situated in a high density area of big box stores and chains, e.g. Lowe's, fast food jooints. It's an OK place to lay your head but don't expect any ambiance! One further caveat -- the wall are made of paper it seems. We were lucky and had relatively quiet neighbors but it could have been a nightmare! Also, big pool attracts families and lots of kids. Ok if you don't mind shaing the lobby in the morning with wet 10 -year-olds. If I returned to Lowell I'd try to book into the UMass Conference Center instead. We walked by it -- great location in the center of the historic district.

“Average at best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2011

First - if you have mobility issues, think twice. I was traveling with a broken leg. I called ahead to request a shower chair and was told they had no such thing - only fully handicapped-accessible rooms. Those are often very inconvenient for people not in wheelchairs. Access to the restaurant is down stairs - there is a ramp, but it's not at all obvious and I only found it by accident. Most doors open to the outside.

The location is good in the sense that it's right off the freeway, but it's not convenient to much of anything - "Industrial Road" is well named. There are no restaurants in walking distance. The hotel mini-mart has mostly snack items and nothing for breakfast (though you can purchase an $8 bottle of wine for $21.)

The rooms are adequate but no more. Bathroom amenities include soap, shampoo, and conditioner (no lotion.) There is no luggage rack in the closet. There are two phones, one by the bed and one on the desk, but they only put a pen and paper next to the one by the bed. Internet is complimentary but painfully slow. There is complimentary coffee but you're only allowed one package of condiments per pot, so unless you drink it black you're probably shortchanged.

“Great service, small rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2010

The service at this hotel can't be beat. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall atmosphere and decor was very polished. Guest rooms were a bit tight, but beds were comfortable and bathrooms were spotless!

“Really reliably a courtyard-- recent improvements”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

I stay here fairly often for business. I have found over the past 5 years it has actually recently improved quite a bit which is why I was moved to write a review. The front desk staff are amazing-- very nice and friendly. Some of the rooms have been redone and upgraded with flat screen tvs and new bedding. It seems they have also taught the housekeeping staff a few more skills and it is no longer a "keep your socks on" kind of place. For an old reliable Marriott courtyard this one can't be beat.

I hesitated to write because why increase the competition for rooms?.. but it can't hurt to encourage more business travelers.
