Spent one night here, arrived late and left early. Didn't get to check out the facilities or surrounding area other than breakfast in the hotel. Breakfast was a buffet and adequate, though not what I'd call memorable. Big complaint here is that all of the juices came out of containers and were way too sweet for my taste. At 4 stars, I expect at least fresh OJ.
Rooms were generous and well appointed with a well-sized bath also. AC is typically euro-weak and had to keep the windows closed due to the wedding that was being held that night. Our room unfortunately looked out over the pool area where much of the reception occurred so we had a lot of noise until the wee hours of the AM and no relief to be had from the cool air outside. Have to give sleep quality low marks for the noise only. The bed itself was really quite comfortable.
Beware the rooms on the second floor. After the wedding noise, you would at least think you could sleep in in the AM to make up for it. Nope! The breakfast room is on the third floor and was right above our room on the second. Lot's of noise from people sliding chairs around. Although, I must admit I did enjoy the view from the breakfast room. Beautiful vista over the sea.
Parking lot is in the back. The only problem here was there was no obvious entrance from the lot to the hotel except through the main floor dining room and we had to search around for an unlocked door a couple of times. There must be an easier way, but we somehow missed it.
They held our passports at check in - a practice I find distasteful at best - like we were going to run out without paying the bill. And you won't get it back out without returning the keycard either. Not that I want it, but its just a cheap shot for a hotel that calls itself 4 star.
Overall, I'd give it a 4 for the atmosphere, it is a beautiful hotel with great rooms and scenic views, but 3 for reception just because I didn't really feel welcome. The whole passport thing makes me feel like they think I'm a criminal. So a solid 3+. Nothing wrong with it really, nothing exceptional about it either.
