After travelling around Sardinia where we stayed in sub standard acomodation the Mulino Vecchio was a wonderful relief. The hotel is clean, spacious and deserving of a higher star rating (we've stayed in five stars that are not as comfortable). The beds were extremely comfortable and the family room exceeded our expectations-spacious, air conditioning, lovely balcony, all mod cons in immaculate bathroom with a daily maid service). The breakfasts were delicious, a huge choice of beautiful home made cakes, pastries, croissants, rolls, ham, cheese, cereal, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit juices etc. All presented to the highest standards of cleanliness and service. The staff spoke good english and were helpful regarding the best local beaches etc. Despite this, we would not holiday in Sardinia again and cannot recommend the island per se for families with children as the restaurants did not open until 19.00 hrs and even then the food was limited, very expensive and sometimes dreadful. Fresh fish does not appear to be available anywhere and it was almost impossible to find good places to eat for lunch (we shopped at the local supermarkets for picnic food). Also. the Sardinian drivers are disrespectful at best and dangerous at worst so take care.
