I've never thought I would ever writ such a review for a hotel in Sardinia, my favorite place in Europe. I booked this hotel because we decided that we would make a tour around Sardinia to see other places than usually. We choose 3 hotels and Arbatax was one of them. Fortunately for only 3 nights. I couldn't find any review about this hotel because we stayed at I Villini and all reviews are written for other parts of the resort which I didn't know is the same. It looks nice on their website.
The resort itself is set in nice environment but it's very big and without any organisation. there are 5 "villages" which means a lot of people. The servis is not good, everything takes a lot of time and usually without effect. There is a bus going around the resort but the bus is modern orange doubledecker which looks terrible in such nature and in those narrow roads. You can't walk when the bus passes you as there is not enough space. There are two lines but now one knows which goes where so people usually don't know where to get off and sometimes have to go all around the resort. a "train" would be more suitable.
The room: we stayed in I Villini which means small cottages. Even though we stayed just above the beach we didn't see anything as there were many big plants in front of the window. It was also difficult to get to the room struggling through the plants. the room was dark, no balkony, nowhere to sit outside. Damp smell around. Quality is maximum 3 stars.
Beach: there are only small beaches in the resort. However, there are many beautiful beaches all around / if you have a car/
Departure: we and other people with us had to wait for one hour for the help with our l luggage.
Summary: we travel a lot and are not picky as we always take into account the locality where we go, the culture, architecture.. But we know Sardinia very well and this is not typical sardinian style at all. we were very disappointed.
i can't say exactly what was the main problem but i think it was everything together. Perhaps with better organisation and better maintaining it could be better but still not enough I would return. At least not in Sardinia where there are many other Sardinian hotels there.
