I stayed at the Tria while visiting my newborn nephew and I couldn't be happier! I spotted it when I started my travel plans, and even after researching a ton of hotel booking services I had to come back. The combination of price and services plus the businesses around the hotel made it my final choice. Boy am I happy I did that!
The hotel is surrounded by an incredibly useful (even if it doesn't look very fancy) plaza: Whole Foods, Starbucks (connected to the hotel, you don't even have to walk outside), Trader Joe's, CVS Pharmacy, Japanese restaurant, department store (I believe it is a Target).... everything in the same block or across the street. It was perfect!
The free shuttle is a huge plus, because it takes you to the metro station (if you like walking it IS within walking distance) or to Harvard square. The driver is the sweetest man you'll ever meet, he truly GETS what customer service is about. I wish I remembered his name, but he truly deserves kudos for making the hotel management look good. Be downstairs 5 minutes before departure time, or you'll miss the shuttle. They keep to the schedule.
The hotel in itself is very pretty, simple but really nice and comfortable, from the couches in the lobby to two free computers for guests with internet and a printer, there is FREE tea and coffee -a good variety of both- in the lobby 24 hours (the water is not too hot in the middle of the night but still!) along with a plate of cookies to share with guests and even doggy treats for those traveling with pets (the hotel allows pets but I never in 2 weeks was bothered by any of them).
The room was big and very comfortable, with a large desk, FREE WiFi that works flawlessly, a nice coffee maker with a huge mug, the bed and pillows were a dream, the cleaning crew was really sweet and respectful, and for 2 weeks I was quite happy to call the Tria my home.
The front desk staff was very professional, and they helped with things even if it didn't relate to my hotel stay.
The FREE breakfast deserves a paragraph of its own. All sorts of fruits, breads, juices and milk, eggs, sausages, home fries, even a waffle maker with ready-to-go batter. And the Portuguese man that manages it... priceless! He is so funny! And really nice, he will get you what you need and he kept the food hot, fresh, everything's clean and delicious.
I've traveled all over the place and the Tria is one of the best values I found. I can't wait to go back!
