“Pleasant start to our holiday!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We started a 3 week trip to America with 4 nights at the Marlowe Hotel. It is very well maintained and decorated. The staff are very polite and helpful, I had problems with the internet coonection which they assisted with. It is well located by the river which makes for a nice walk after breakfast! There was a problem on the morning we departed in that there was a power cut throughout the whole hotel which was not resolved before we left. This meant staff having to come up to our room with a torch as the corridors were pitch black and carry our suitcases down the stairs! The restaurant in the hotel was also very pleasant. Boston is a beautifull place to visit, highly recommended.

Dear jvonslow44,

I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay. And the walk along the canal is wonderful, isn't it! I hope the power outage wasn't too bad for you. We hope you come back on your next trip the the US!

Kindest regards,

“Consistently Great Service! Human & Canine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We returned to the Hotel Marlow due to the excellent service we had received on a prior trip! And again they did not disappoint. Not only do they offer their human guests the highest level of service but they also cater to the canine guest as well. We knew we were in a special place when we drove up and saw the dog treat bowl and the names of the current dog guests written on the welcome board. Staff at all levels display friendly service, followup and attention to detail. The decor is lush and comfy and we enjoyed the daily wine hour from 5-6. The value is excellent and we will return!

“Front Desk - above and beyond the call of duty!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I stayed at the Hotel Marlowe the night before an important business meeting in Cambridge. The morning of the meeting, I realized that I did not have any dress shoes. I had arrived late the night before after driving in and was an old pair of tennis shoes. I was in a pickle, because my meeting started at 7:30 AM. I asked the front desk for advise on what I could do, and Chris Demilia, who works at the front desk, asked me what size I wore. When I told him, he said, "So do I" and offered me his shoes! I was shocked! I had no other option but to take him up on it, and I sure am glad that I did, because the morning meeting evolved into a one on one meeting with the VP of sales! I would have looked very foolish in my suit with an old pair of tennis shoes! Thank you Chris for going above and beyond the call of duty! You certainly demonstated the kind of service that is hard to come by.

“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I just arrived at the Marlowe today and was greeted by the same pleasant polite "can do" attitude that had me returning in the first place. After a check in that was a breeze I went to for walk to return to my room with a handwritten welcome note and complimentary cheese tray. I am now going down to their complimentary wine hour to enjoy a glass of wine. Travellers please do yourselves a huge favor and stay at the Marlowe. You will not be disappointed. The rooms are fantastic the service is over the top and you will soon find that you will be like me and writing positive reviews for them because they are just that good

Room Tip: if you are first timers to boston make sure you get a room overlooking the river otherwise all of th...

“Great Hotel at a Good Price In Cambridge/Boston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We received a discounted offer from Kimpton for a weekend stay for $119/night which was later upgraded to a "view room" with a lovely review of the Charles River and Boston Skyline for an additional $20/ night. Self park in the hotel's garage was only $20/night a bargin in Boston. Location is lovely though a little out of the mainstream of Boston or Cambridge. It is connected to the large Cambridge Galleria Mall and a very short walk to the Boston Museum of Science, and also a short walk to two Green Line T stops. The hotel is right on the river with lovely riverside park in which to walk or jog; they offer free use of bikes or kayaks as well.
Staff were delightful as usual at Kimpton and the traditional evening wine reception was pleasant. We ate at their restaurant, I think called Bambera, which was not good. We had two poor meals and one very good one. I do not recommend Bambera. Unfortunately the neighborhood is such that there did not seem to be many other dining options in easy walking distance other than the Galleria Mall with its typical mass market chain restaurants.
The room was lovely, spotless and comfortable and plenty large enough for a couple with king bed, one lounge chair plus a desk and work chair. The exercise room was well equipped with a number of high end exercise machines and free weights.
We had one problem at checkout. The hotel charged us incorrectly for both the special discounted rate as well as the room upgrade. It took about 20 minutes of the desk clerk and then manager's time to straighten it all out and we left with two credit card credits for incorrect charges as well as our actual bill. But once the manager got involved she resolved it as quickly as she could though I'm glad we were not rushing to catch a plane. It would have been more of an issue I think had I not had my original email confirmation in hand at checkout.

Room Tip: Room I think are all similar but many look out on an attractive courtyard only. The View Rooms are...
