“Worth a three hour flight just for the experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Flew out of Heathrow on a cold a bleak Monday morning in early February - Thats just how many Mondays are.
Hired a car from the airport and made our way to the Blue Lagoon Clinic for the first night of our 6 day vacation.
The clinic was easy to find and set in its own amazing landscape with views across to the main Blue Lagoon resort and the geothermal spa.
The clinic itself only has 15 rooms and so not at all crowded. The breakfast was continental style, easy enough.
Access into their own private lagoon was so so special and the single best reason to stay there.
Only 3 other people in the water, silica mud on the floor of the pool made it an experience in itself as you walk through the warm water.
I say warm, it varies between hot and warm depending on the spot you find yourself in.
Lots of little shelves to stop and relax, just looking up at the sky and feeling the snow in our case falling on your head and face.
Rub some mud into your face, arms and body and just chill out.
We came out after an hour or so with skin that was so soft.
We all said it was worth the 3 hour flight just for this experience.
Complimentary access to the main Blue lagoon made an extra bonus.
The main lagoon is much wider, longer and has many more people in it. It also has sauna and steam rooms, but at £25 per head to get in, its worth staying in the clinic and having free access included in the room price.
A brilliant experience to either start or end the holiday and close enough to the airport.

lovely hotel to stay in and is really worth it as you have free access to the blue lagoon the day you arrive and the day you check out and the view from the room is great.
the food in the restaurant Lava is yam yam yam and I suggest you book a table otherwise you may get disappointed and last serving is around 8.30pm.
friendly hosts and many thanks to Barbara from the reception and the gentleman also from the Philippines who was on night duty, we forgot to buy water but he supplied us with a jug of fresh water,,little things make such a difference

Room Tip: great savings if you stay here as you get free entrance to the blue lagoon..30 euros savings per per...

“Like being on another planet...very cool but bring a flashlight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The hotel is very clean and the staff is super friendly...especially Barbara at the front desk. I left my very expensive camera in the taxii that dropped me off and and she helped me track him down. She told me to go enjoy the water and that she would take care of it. When I got back to my room after my swim in the lagoon my camera was sitting right on my bed. Thanks Barbara!
We had reservations at the Lava restaurant for dinner. The trail to and from the blue lagoon is like a fairy tale during the day but at night it's down right scary for 2 girls on vacation lol. The trail was very dimly lit which made walking on the gravel in the rain and wind a bad experience. We ended up using the lights from our cell phones to lead the path back to the clinic. Though I will never forget being scared to death walking that path at night ....It was part of the other worldly experience...I guess lol. So bring a flashlight if you're not too fond of walking in the dark in the middle of nowhere.
other than that...super clean...super quiet...and super close to the airport.
Over all this was a memorable experience....

“Comfortable, restful, if a bit ... clinical”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We booked our first night in Iceland here, to recover from the overnight flight, and to see the Blue Lagoon. It's a rather odd sort of place, both a hotel and a clinic for those seeking skin therapy in the sulfur-rich thermal pools. And as a clinic, there's a sterility to the rooms, to the public areas, and to the decor. However, it is also one of the most restful places I've ever come across, utterly quiet, sparkling clean, and with that all-important walking access to the Blue Lagoon. The hotel also has its own private thermal pools for the exclusive use of its guests, but during the day, the private pools are for patients. Other guests can use the pools in the morning or in the evening.

Because it's also a clinic, you'll find a number of guests walking around in bathrobes, in between treatments. This is a wonderful spot for psoriasis patients, who will find these waters incredibly healing. If I had psoriasis, I'd definitely book myself a week here. I can't imagine a more wonderful place as a retreat and a place of healing, with other psoriasis patients.

For a nice meal, you'll have to walk the two minutes to the Blue Lagoon, where the Lava Restaurant has some nice selections and wines. The hotel itself only has a buffet, which is fine for breakfast but not so elegant for dinner.

“Convenient for Blue Lagoon and airport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Only stayed one night here but the rooms were very spacious and warm and the beds were extremely comfortable. The hotel is not cheap but the rate includes entry to the Blue Lagoon so that makes it quite good value for money (providing you make use of the free entry); plus they have their own private pool if the main lagoon is very crowded or you want to take a dip later at night. The hotel is also only 20 mins drive from the international airport so it is very convenient to stay here prior to an early flight. The hotel prepared a very early breakfast for us, which was also good.

The hotel will not provide an evening meal unless by prior arrangement but we ate in the Lava restaurant at the Blue Lagoon and the meal was superb (and not too expensive by Icelandic standards). The Blue lagoon itself is about 600 metres walk from the hotel but this is a very pleasant walk past milky blue pools and moss covered lava fields.
