“Hot tubs were very welcom”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We had a great time staying at this hotel, the hot tubs were lovely lying outdoors after a tiring day with the family was a great way to end the day. The hotel was really nicely decorated, clean, had plenty of TV channels. The staff were really helpful and breakfasts were plentiful, a help yourself buffet with waffles, teas and a good selection, pickled fish and breads. The evening meals were good, we all chose different foods and all were nicely presented. I recommend the little restaurant over the road for a meal as well, we had great pasta and lamb and it was a homely atmosphere.

Room Tip: Ask for one near the hot tubs, ours opened just on to it 121 I think, other rooms could be a little...

No complaints - everything was very good. Dinner cooked perfectly and well presented. Cook your own waffles at breakfast!

“Excellent for touring”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

This hotel is in an excellent position for driving along the South Coast and for Gulfoss and Geysir.
The rooms are comfortable, a bit like a motel rather than a hotel, with outdoor sitting area and separate entrance and bathroom area.
The restaurant cannot be faulted for the evening meal, food is fantastic. The breakfast is fairly basic but no different to most hotels in Iceland.
Lovely to use the open air hot tubs in the courtyard.
If you go in mid summer you may want to take an eye mask but the curtains keep out most of the light. overall extremely comfortable.

Room Tip: Room facing grassy area rather than hot tub area.

“Icedeal hotel for Geysir & Gullfoss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011 via mobile

We stayed here as part of a fly drive holiday. The location of the hotel is ideal for anyone wanting to visit Gullfoss waterfall (awesome) or the amazing site at Geysir and Strokkur. Very comfortable but some unusual touches in that all the rooms are set out like cabins and surround a central court yard containing two out door hot tubs (which our kids thought were the best things since sliced bread). A small squeegee is provided as the shower water runs onto the tiled floor in the bathroom (not seen that before) but there was plenty of hot water and the comfortable beds ensured a great night's sleep.
We ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times and the food was exquisite, the chef really does know his onions and all the staff were attentive and pleasant. Fludir itself is very small but there is a small supermarket from where you can get most things and also a petrol station.
We had mistakenly thought there was a swimming pool and gym as part of the hotel but that was our error however the swimming pool and sauna and the gym are about 500 metres away. There is also a restaurant directly opposite the hotel and interestingly an Ethiopian restaurant a short walk away which we didn't get chance to try out. There is also a pub close by but again we never visited that either. We did however have a few Icelandic "Viking" beers in the hotel which was a nice drink
Any negatives? Not that many really. If you wanted to be really picky I suppose you might say that Fludir us very quiet in the week but that's hardly a criticism of the hotel. They have just upgraded all the television sets in the hotel and if you click backwards you are able to get UK stations (typical Brit tourist comment I'm afraid) but I have to say the Icelandic language is one of the strangest ive come across. Fortunately most Icelanders are far more outwards looking and have very good English
Would i return? You betcha!

“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

There is a dearth of hotels in this area, so our tour group was lucky that Hotel Fludir was able to accommodate us and cater to our special needs.

We had a nice room, with a door to an outside sitting area. There were a comfortable bed, 2 padded chairs, a small table, pcture wndow and a small television set. There was even room to put our suitcases! The bathroom was small, as was the shower, with no toiletries provided (except soap) and adequate towels and a hairdryer. The room's blackout curtains weren't quite big enough, so bring eyeshades if you stay there in summer. The room had rather poor lighting.

There are two outdoor hot tubs for the use of guests.

Our group had a special breakfast, so I can't comment on the usual fare.
