In town visiting friends and opted to give the Drury Inn a try after seeing all the positive reviews, as well as reading about their breakfast buffet and 5:30 Kickback.
The Drury definitely lived up to the positive reviews for us. The front desk was polite, got us checked in quickly and were always there to answer questions about different sites and restaurants around town. The room was a very good size and the bed very comfortable. Didn't notice any noise from any of the other rooms around us.
The 5:30 Kickback was a spread of different appetizer-type foods. There were hot dogs, baked potatoes, salad and snacks (pretzels/chips) every day and then other items added depending on what day it was. Friday night when we were there was a nacho bar and the Saturday night was macaroni and cheese and chili. You also got a card at check in that was good for three alcoholic drinks (beer, wine, basic mixed drinks like a screwdriver, or 7&7) and there were also unlimited soft drinks (Pepsi products). Could easily be enough food to constitute an entire dinner or a nice snack before heading out for somewhere nicer.
The breakfast was a spread of scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, french toast sticks and waffle irons for fresh waffles. There was also cereal, oatmeal, donuts, coffee cake and drinks were coffee, tea and juice. Very filling and a nice breakfast -- although there is a Bob Evans about two blocks one direction and an IHop two blocks the other way if you want something more elaborate.
The pool area and hot tub were not large, but definitely more than enough to get the job done. The area is kept neat and appears to be very well maintained.
Perhaps the only drawback appears to be wide fluctuations in the rates for the Drury. Some weekends I've checked there are rates as low as about $80/night, while other weekends the same room is going for about $130 -- even though other, comparable hotels in the area don't have this fluctuation. Still, will definitely be giving the Drury strong consideration on my next trip to Springfield.
