We spent three nights here and it was a good value. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet; the entire facility was clean, and the staff was friendly but not meddlesome.

The food at the free breakfast was the typical pre-packaged, bland fare prevalent at all motels these days, so no points added or subtracted for that. The attendant made sure the food bar was clean and orderly.

The facility is also pet-friendly (we traveled with two small dogs), and they properly asked for a phone number where we could be reached in case they needed to contact us (if the doggies were disturbing other guests, although the stated reason was "in case of an emergency with the pets"). I appreciated that, since I have stayed in places where there seemed to be disregard for other guests when pets were unruly.

If you're looking for a simple, comfortable place to stay without any hassles, this is it.

This hotel is just plain tired. I checked in late at night and was given a room which had not been cleaned, but I'll give the front desk a break on that one. When I did receive a "clean" room, however, it is well below the standard I expect from a Holiday Inn property. We found a dozen empty beers on the top of the TV armoire. The old tube TV barely worked and we could not change the channel with the remote or manually on the front of the TV. Beds are OLD and slope to the middle. If you need a place to "crash" and you have low expectations, this will do if the price is right. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see this hotel change to a Super 8 or other low end brand in the VERY near future.

Check-in was quick and staff was friendly, complimentary popcorn and apples in lobby. Room was clean and spacious with free wifi, no flat screen tv but old style tv with many channels available. Bed was comfortable, bathroom clean and had a great shower. Good breakfast which is complimentary.

We had an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Springfield and was pleasantly surprised. Upon arrival, the Desk Clerk was very nice and helpful with questions we had about the area. Since we were traveling with another couple he asked us which rooms we preferred. The rooms were nicely decorated and the bathroom was extremely clean. The carpet and furniture also looked and smelled very clean also. The beds slept very nice and they supplied you with 4 fluffy pillows on each bed. I had a very restful nights sleep. Our room was located just outside the elevator, but we were surprised how quiet this hotel was. The breakfast they offered was a little more than continental. They had alot of hot items such as sausage gravy & biscuits, hard boiled eggs, pancakes and waffles. Also the usual breakfast items. Very pleased with breakfast. The area was nice with a small outside shopping mall across the street and alot of good restaurants within a block or two. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Springfield, IL
