I saw their ad in one of those travel magazines you get at rest stops. The 2 things that caulght my eye were "Remodeled Rooms" & "Free Breakfast". Neither was true. The entire placed smelled bad. The rooms were not remodeled and when I got up in the morning and went for breakfast the man at the desk said "Nope, none today". There are lots of places to stay in Springfield around this place. Pick one of them.

They say you get what you pay for in life. This rings true for the hotel. If you are looking for an exceptionally friendly person to greet you, bell hop, or a mint on your pillow...keep driving! This is an older hotel (2 stories/access to rooms outside) that has older furniture and looks rather run down. The tv works, the rooms are cheap. That's where the excitement ends. If you are just needing a place to crash and you are staying in Springfield, this is a decent place. It's 1/2 a mile from the interstate. You are also within a mile from:
- movie theater
-shopping
- Red Lobster, Steak n Shake, Outback Steakhouse, IHOP

If you want to stay at a hotel that is more of a "4 Star" type of experience, head 1/2 a mile down to the Crowne Plaza.

I must have stayed at a different motel from the other reviewers. The lobby includes a protective glass reception cage for evening check in; breakfast is coffee, a jug of oj, a box of donuts; door (mine & others I watched) almost impossible to open; room chairs were filthy and ripped, carpet badly stained and a roach crawled out of the tub, despite the nearby sticker saying the place was proudly serviced by Orkin.

The clerk made sure I knew checkout was at 11. I guess he must have had problems with others wanting to prolong their stay.

I wouldn't stay here again unless I was really poor.

The Stevenson Inn is definitly a bargain stay, with no frills. Travelers should know that there are no in room "amenities", such as a hairdryer, an iron, or an alarm clock. There is bar soap and some packets of strange shampoo, but that is all. Our room was clean and cleaned each of the 3 days we were there. The room we stayed in was not particularly updated and the bathtub, while clean, wasn't too inviting. There were a multitude of TV channels, but on the whole it is a good hotel to stay in if you are not planning on spending much time actually at the hotel.
