We were travelling on vacation and made a last minute decision to head to Springfield rather then another location. Made a quick stop to a wi-fi spot and booked online at the hotel site. Never had a bad experience with a super 8 before. Unfortunately, we did NOT check tripadvisors because of time and it was a baddddd mistake.

Checked in around 1030pm after noticing the LPGA was playing in the area. Check in was quick, we had booked a king suite. Went up to check the room - King suite means a big room - nothing more. King bed, small table, couch with a tv in a room under-utilized.

It was then that we noticed that the curtains were broken, there was a stale moldy musty smell in the air. The door wasnt sealed tightly. The bed was so hard it seemed like it was just the box spring. As we were moving things around and debating the condition, my wife noticed all sorts of 'stuff' on the walls all throughout the room. We found what looked to be a used comforter tossed in a corner.

We contacted the front desk and found that the person that had checked us in was gone and another person there. We asked him to come up and look at this room. When he did, he apologized and offered to change us to a different room. He was told that under no circumstances would we be staying and he then blamed the condition of the room on the cleaning staff. He did offer to take our bags down, but we quickly threw our stuff back in our car. I will say that he did refund the cost of the room and apologized which I appreciated.

Always check tripadvisors no matter what. Had we seen the reviews similar to what we would have experienced, it would have saved us a headache. As it was, we went to several other hotels in the immediate area and not a single one had any rooms because of the LPGA tournament.

Rooms were reserved through a third party. We had five rooms, none that appeared to have been cleaned for awhile. My room had garbage on the floor between the beds, in the drawers, and behind the doors. There was used soap left by the sink and in the shower. Another of the rooms had water still in the sink with dirty towels on the counter. The stains on the walls and the floors make it difficult to even imagine when the last time this hotel had been cleaned. I was truly afraid to touch anything in this place.

We checked in earlier in the day then went to work. We got back late and wanted to change motels because this one was so awful. We were told we couldn't have our money back. You are better off sleeping in your car for the night than stay here. This place should be condemned.

We was there to visit some friends who live in Chatam IL., not to far from there, and it was one of the worse hotels we have ever stayed in. The room wasn't too bad til we lifted up one of the beds. One of the box springs had a hole in it. The carpet near the elevator looked like it hadn't been vaccumend in a while. Then we went out to dinner and we got a call from them saying that our dog got out of the room. Now tell me, how in the world does a dog get out of a room on his own. My sons came up with the conclusion that he was eiter a super dog and became human and let himself out and then turned back into a dog or he jumped from the floor to the sink, then to the door, opened it up, and then went out it. Either story still doesn't work. So the only other thing is that the lady next to us got ticked off at the dog barking and someone went up there, got him, and then took him down stairs. I can tell you right now, I will not go back up there nor will I ever recomend any one else to stay there.

I had to attend a conference in Springfield, IL right after them enduring a hurricane. Most of the hotels were booked online so I started calling around. Unfamiliar with the area, I knew our Super 8 at home was fairly decent, was happy to hear there was a room available. I booked a double queen got 1 full size bed. Asked for additional towels and pillows and was blantantly told no. The comforter looked like it has blood stains, asked for another, and was told to bring it down and they would need to check it first. The hallways smelled not only of stale cigarettes but of urine. I would advise anyone who only has the option of staying here to sleep in their car because I surely will before stepping foot near this "whole in the wall".
