“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011 via mobile

We wanted a cheap hotel since we were only staying one night. The light over the sink didn't work and another was falling down. In the middle of the night a family ws sold the room we were staying in! They went to the front desk and got another room, but cancelled out our key, so we couldn't get in. The woman at the front desk never apologize and acted like nothing happened. Aside from that, the bed was nice, and the room was clean.

“Bare bones...but clean.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Stayed here for one night during a quick trip to Springfield. Didn't want to spend $$ on a room we would only be in a minimal amount of time so we decided to try here. The room was very basic...not even a picture on the wall. King size bed was pretty comfortable, and the room was really clean (that's a good thing...). The only problem we had (once again, let me remind you, this is a pretty basic room so don't forget any hygiene stuff), was our room faced the interstate and the only thing drowning out the noise was the air conditioner...which everytime it turned on it sounded like someone slammed the door!! So be sure to ask for a room not facing the interstate. Kind of hard to find and get into location, too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing interstate!!

“Good place to save money on a comfortable night's stay.”

King size bed was shockingly comfortable. Air conditioning was powerful and adjustable to just what I needed. No frills but for the price, around $50, got a good night's sleep in a comfortable place. Ground floor rooms mean you can back into parking space in front of the door and have only a few steps to carry your bags into your room. HBO on the TV was appreciated. Secluded location for quite from main road, but still central enough to be short drive to all Springfield sites. Nice place to save some money on a comfortable night's stay. Remember to ask for a Redi-card and collect points for a free nights stay after about 10 stays, or can transfer the points for airline miles. Restaurants and fast food options, and plenty of shopping, both north and south on Dirksen Boulevard. Easy freeway access right there next to the motel.

“Just what we needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

We stayed at this particular Red Roof in on our way to a family reunion in Missouri. All we needed was a clean, comfortable place to lay our heads for the night, and this hotel was exactly what we were looking for. We had one room with two double beds and another that was their "Superior King" - the King included a few more amenities than the double/double - work desk, refrigerator and microwave. The mattresses in the double/double were slanted a bit which made for a slightly uncomfortable sleep. Overall, a good value for the money.

Room Tip: Superior King - same cost, more amenities

“Great Price Added to a Great Weekend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2011

Add me to the list of others who found this property more than adequate to visit the sights of Lincoln's life. The $56 AAA rate including tax was the lowest I've paid for room in a long time. True, the hotel is a little tired and our front door had about a quarter of it's paint chipped off but hey, that made it easier to find our room.
No breakfast and free coffee only in the lobby but that cheap rate bought us each a Grand Slam breakfast at Denny's, about 5 minutes away. IHOP and other restaurants are in the same area.
The room was clean with no odor. As usual with me, I immediately pulled back all blankets from the beds and saw no indications of bugs. Shinning a flashlight in dark corners and under the dresser found no bugs either. The bathroom was small and we had four bath towels that were fluffy enough for us. All the usual cable TV channels found at chain hotels were available.
The room was quiet. I was never awaken during the night from noise either outside or in the rooms on either side.
This hotel and great rate afforded us a very pleasant visit to Lincoln's home town. I recommend a visit there for anyone who has an interest in Abraham Lincoln.
