My husband and I spent the night in the Lilly Room, but this review is more about the experience than the hotel itself. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. It was a little more expensive than a lot of the chain hotels in the area, but the extra cost was well worth it.
One reviewer on Tripadvisor gave the B&B only two stars. I always read the bad reviews, and this one admitted it was a great looking place, but said it was "haunted" and he didn't enjoy the evening at all. Not to be one that believes in such things, we made our reservations and chose the Lilly room.
When the inn keeper took us up to our room on the third floor, I asked her as we entered the elevator if this was the "haunted elevator" I had read about. She gave me a strange look and didn't say anything. There was an awkward silence as the elevator door opened. I figured she thought I was some kind of goof-ball so I let it drop.
That evening, we returned from dinner to find fresh warm cookies in a basket on our door handle. This is one of the special extras that comes with the room. We also found our bathroom door closed, which wasn't how we left it. Nothing else was disturbed so we didn't think much of it.
Later that evening we were laying in bed and my husband asked, "What did you say?" "nothing", I replied. "I thought I heard you say something". "Nope, not me".
We went to sleep and the bed was very comfortable and inviting. I woke up halfway through the night and sat bolt upright in bed. I was surprised to smell a very intense aroma of sweet flowers. Like roses. I sniffed again and it was still very strong. I looked around to see where it could be coming from and it was gone. huh.
I used the bathroom and went back to sleep. I guess I should say that I use a cane to walk and I keep it close by at all times. When we awoke in the morning, I looked next to the bed for the cane where I was keeping it against the night stand. It wasn't there. I looked around the room, and asked my husband if he had moved it per chance. He said no. He hadn't been out of bed yet. Upon closer look, my cane was acrosss the room, leaning up against the door.... huh, thats odd.,,,
I don't believe in evil spirits, and I have been to several places that claim to be haunted hotels or restaurants, and I have never noticed anything out of the ordinary. But this time.....
We will certainly return to this beautiful B&B. With or without our uninvited guest....The experience was well worth the extra expense. Pleasant dreams.....
