I had a Smoking King Suite reserved, but key wouldn't work, then I found it was a non smoking room. Then got a double double, which was more like two twins. Old TV with worthless remote. Old phone that wasn't connected to anything, but we all had cell phones. Internet didn't work, but the desk manager came right to our room to check it out, then ultimately rebooted the router and all worked fine. We only spent the night cause we were traveling thru and caught Jeff Dunham at the state fair. I've been in dozens of hotels and I can safely say, this place is overpriced. From the outside it looks like a nice complex with an outdoor pool.

“You Get What You Pay For”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

we wanted a reasonably priced room near downtown springfield - we figured we wouldn't be spending too much time in the room, so it didn't need to be fancy - and we didn't want to pay a lot. we got what we paid for in this place. it dubs itself a "home away from home" - i wouldn't have given it that description. the lobby is rather elaborate compared to the rooms - it is filled with gold and glass / 80s looking decor. the hallways are clean and typical. although you had to use the electronic key to gain access to the building itself (which we appreciated), it was obvious from visible damage to our room door, that it had been broken into in the past, which was disconcerting. the room itself was outdated looking, dark and extremely small - the door to the tiny bathroom was extremely narrow. even with the door shut, the flimsy shower curtain stuck to you the entire time you were in the shower. ick. the vanity area was outside the 'bathroom' - right beside the room door - and there was no vanity counter space at all. we had to leave all of our personal hygiene items in suitcases and get them out each time we wanted to use them. one morning, as i stood half dressed in front of the mirror, someone opened our room door without knocking. my husband had been out early to get some coffee and we could not be sure he had locked the door again, so we don't know if it was a member of housekeeping or another hotel guest?? there was no internet availability. there was no coffee pot or hair dryer. roll-away beds were listed, but when we asked they said they had none. there were hardly any electrical outlets. in fact, we had to unplug the microwave in order to plug in the television to watch it at night. there was onsite laundry available (one washer and one dryer) and an outdoor pool area reserved for hotel guests. family members advised us the majority of the guests of this establishment are people looking for an inexpensive place to stay while in the area visiting someone in the nearby hospitals. we hardly saw anyone here our entire stay (maybe 3 or 4 other families in the three nights we stayed there). this hotel is also for sale. while it wasn't a 'horrible' experience, when we are in the area again, we will not stay here.

“Cheap - But Dumpy (You get what you pay for I guess)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

This was the only place in town with vacancy so we stayed here. There was some biker convention in town and even the dirt bag bikers weren't staying here if that tells you anything. The rooms are dumpy and this place attracts some shady clientelle. We saw a hooker and a drug deal in the parking lot while checking in around 8pm. They claim to offer breakfast, but it is in a tiny corner of the lobby and does not have enough food or space to serve everyone & the staff didn't care. They did have a mini fridge which was nice, but that was about it. It'll get you by for one night in a pinch. Outside pool only.

“Never again, not if it was the only place in town”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2009

This motel was not very clean, the furniture was old and shabby, and the room smelled. Even so, I might have stayed there again, until the DRAMA started. I am a night shift worker and was trying to sleep during the day, which is always a gamble at any motel. There was a lot of noise out in the hall, people screaming obscene names, slamming doors, and threatening violence. I tried to just ignore it, but it kept getting louder and louder. Then, a voice right outside my door said "I'm coming to get you, [--]" I went to the door to look out the peephole and as I got to the door I heard someone say "She's in 129!" I thought, wait a minute, I'M in 129! I was pretty scared so I called the front desk. When the manager came to my room I told him what was happening, and that I was sure it was the people in the next room. I told him to please do something about it, but keep me out of it. He went next door and...BROUGHT THE WOMAN TO MY ROOM!!! He brought her to my room and introduced her to me by saying "This lady has been complaining about the noise, and she's afraid of you." I was so shocked I didn't know what to say. The woman was loud, obnoxious, and frankly, scary. But she tried to act nice to me, telling me that she was sorry, but she was mad at the manager's wife (who she proceeded to call all sorts of names-in front of him- and threaten to run her down in the parking lot next time she saw her. I was so upset at this point I didn't know what to think or do, also, I was exhausted and only had a few hours to sleep before my first night at my new assignment. She told me that she was sorry, and that if they got too loud to just 'bang on the wall, we'll shut the [--] up." I said "I don't want any trouble, I'm just trying to get some sleep before work." So, the manager left and she went back to her room, where her boyfriend began beating the crap out of her and slamming her into the wall. Of course I didn't bother to bang on the wall myself, it seemed rather pointless. I thought about calling the police, but I was kind of scared to do anything. When I left for work I was sure someone was going to jump me from behind or slash my tires. I could not believe the way they handled that entire situation, and needless to say I would warn anyone that staying there could be hazardous to your health.
