If you're black or asian, simply do not stay at this place. We booked as 7 people coming from england, we arrived at the place after a very long drive.
The staff there didn't speak any english and in our broken German asked when the english speaking member of staff ( who we had been speaking to, to make the booking) we were told 10 o'clock, so we waited. 10:30 comes and we go back to find out whats happening only to find that they had locked the door and called the police.
Complaining that they hadn't been expecting ' brown people' and expected English ( read white) people. They had also said that they had spoken to us in English and we were speaking some other language. Which is a complete load of rubbish. In any event the Police were very nice and spoke to us, then the guesthouse, he was very apologetic ( not your fault fella) said it was all sorted out and we could stay at the hotel. As a matter of priciple we found another hotel who didn't have a problem with the colour of our skin.
So quite a bad experience all in all, you can not dress it up in any other way, you simply can not treat people like this and expect to cover it up with ' we were confused' You're running a guest house, you know you will have 6-7 people from england staying with you and they will be arriving at x time. So when the 6-7 people turn up at the expected time, all speaking english you decided you didn't want thm to stay there because you didn't like the colour of their skin.
Rhineland area of Germany is beautiful, we stayed in another guesthouse in Westum, Sinzig which is about 3KM from Bad Bodendorf and experienced no problems.
