Tried to get a hotel at a decent price in Cologne proved impossible as a large dental show was on, this hotel is in a town about 20 minutes ride on the train line that stops outside the conference centre so was perfect for that, the room was very good, large spacious and clean, I ate in the restaurant the first night as part of a package but was underwhelmed, the restaurant was empty and somewhat soleless, as was the bar on the top floor, although they did prepare some excellent cocktails. Siegburg has a number of restaurants and is quite a pretty town although three days schlepping around a trade show meant I wasnt really in the mood to explore..

My husband has found himself working in Lohmar Germany this year. He has been home only 6 weeks since February and at his home away from home at the Kranz Park in Siegburg the rest of the time. He tried one of the other hotels in Siegburg when the Kranz was booked but quickly returned the the Kranz. I have had the pleasure of staying here just once so far but I am returning next week. This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. It is privately owned by 2 brothers, and you will almost always find one Heir Kranz or the other on the property. The Kranz is a 4 story hotel, not an Inn or a B&B. It's extremely clean, friendly English speaking staff willing to go the extra mile for every guest and very comfortable. Breakfast is usually included and is great and if you visit the bar on the top floor, you will find Jasmine and Gueto very welcoming. Siegburg is a bit off the beaten tourist trail but worth it for some R & R and a very pleasant experience. I know I am looking forward to returning.
