“Not up to typical Residence Inn standards”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

As a family of five that stays in Residence Inn's all over the US, we were sadly disapointed with this location. The interior has been updated but we had several problems that made it necessary for us to move in and out of three different rooms the same night we checked in. The first problem was wasps. They were everywhere on the property, including in our first two rooms. I can deal with a pest here and there, but five giant wasps in our first room including one in our kids bed is unacceptable. After moving to a different room that had wasps circling the door, but thankfully stayed outside, the AC went out. We were there in May and the temps weren't too bad, but the temperature was unbearable in the upstaires loft area. So finally at 9:30pm at night we had to pack up again and move our entire family (2 adults & 3 kids) to our third and final room.

Throughout all of this, we frequently asked to speak to the MOD (manager on duty) and were constantly given excuses as to why she couldn't come to the phone. We thought that was really strange because as frequent Marriott guests we know that there is always a MOD on the premises.....always. When we received or check out bill we were surprised to see that they had not adjusted our bill at all for all of the trouble that we went through. After going to the front office and demanding to speak to the MOD he was finally told that the general manager was scheduled to be the MOD all weekend (holiday weekend) but had decided not to show up. But we were offered 1,200 Marriott rewards points for our trouble. What a joke!

Also, almost all of the cupboards were empty in the kitchen. We did not even have the bare essentials to cook meals for our family. We basically had four place settings of dishes, one pan, one spatula and that was it in the entire kitchen. Not a single knife except the four butter knives. We pay extra for Residence Inn because we know that we will be able to save money by preparing meals instead of eating out and we couldn't even do that.

And breakfast was a joke. Never enough food. They had one lady cooking fooding and she didn't even have a kitchen. She was trying to make eggs, bacon, etc on a hot plate. Plus the quality was terrible. My kids ended up eating cereal and milk the entire time. Very dissapointing.

We will NEVER return to this location again!

Room Tip: Stay far away from this location. Terrible customer service!

“So-so location and amenities. Great service.”

We stayed one night in August, waylaid in Omaha because of the flooding. The check-in staff were very friendly and helpful, and upgraded us to a very nice suite with a loft. One of our main reasons for staying at Residence Inns is for the nice meals they provide in the evening after a long day of driving. We were very disappointed in the evening reception … it wasn’t anywhere near a meal. In addition, this Residence Inn didn’t provide meals on Thursday evenings. The location of this hotel was not at all convenient for a traveler passing through Omaha. It’s location was set back one-half block from a major city road and not in an area that appeared to be booming, although there was a major mall about a ¼ mile away. We felt safe in the hotel and they had security, but after dark we weren’t as sure about the safety in the immediate area. There wasn’t any traffic noise.

“Worked out well”

We chose the R.I. for our multi-generation family weekend . The layout of the penthouse suite is different than any other 2 bedroom RI we have stayed in. There was a 1/2 wall that did double duty as the headboard in the loft bedroom...not ideal for a toddler but the downstairs bedroom worked well for that.

Room was clean and recently redone but did have a stale smoke smell. Breakfast was same as always but could have used a little more seating, maybe that was why they had the to-go boxes available. Also only had outdoor pool and no hottub.

Location was near shopping and places to eat, not a scary area.

“Good for Long Business Trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

There is nothing special about this Residence Inn. It meets all of the basic qualities of the Marriott Residence Inn brand without going above and beyond. Stayed here for about a month on a business trip and if you are loyal to Marriott, this is the only "homey" type place available in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.

Overall, the room was clean but does attract flies and lady bugs in the Fall when the door or patio door is open. The room did have a great set of cutting knives to use and the kitchen area was very clean and very functional. The wifi is okay but not great. You won't be watching too many movies on your computer. They do not offer premium cable channels. Breakfast and evenings snacks are okay. Nothing to write home about.

This a good place to stay but don't expect anything very high-end. It gets the job done if you need a place with a kitchen for a long term stay.

“Hack Job”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2011

This is one of the worst experiances from a solid brand I have ever experianced.
1) The door would not lock; it would appear locked but would push open as easily as if you were pushing a shopping cart. The facilities person did come up and fix this issue but on follow up, the management thought there was no reason to check a single other door on any unit. So, 'Beware' of your security if you plan on staying there.
Also, while this area is not as bad as Detroit, some parts of LA or Texas; it is not a safe area, yet in spite of the obvious crime presence they ignore the most basic of security measures.
2) Also 'Beware' if you plan on using a wireless device. There are two wireless networks, "Residence Inn" and "I-bahn". Both networks have excellent signal strength and both are unlocked. However, the I-bahn is associated with this Residence Inn, the network named "Residence Inn' is a fraud. I did not speak with them but a reasonable guess is they are trying to hack unsuspecting guests personal information.
3) So, not only is someone likely trying to 'hack' your information, the hotel management knows this and is doing NOTHING to inform guests (at least until I stayed there) about this security hazard.
4) Follow up conversations with hotel management have not gone well. My humble opinion; management here is not part of the solution.

I have had great experiences with many Residence Inns around the country; this one was bad by itself and horrible by comparison. I will NEVER stay at this facility again.
