“It's an OK hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

I've stayed here twice because it's a good value given I had a hot tub in my room. It's in a great location. My only gripe is the chlorine from the pool carries throughout the hotel. On the other hand, the staff is very friendly...
The bar is OK as well. SO if you're not looking for ANY frills, it's a good bargain...

“Property has declined over time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2010

We have been staying at this hotel once or twice a year for the last 10 years, as we live a couple of hours from Omaha and like to stay over when in town for shopping or entertainment. At first it was a great place to stay with tremendous value, and I recommended it to everyone. The property is aging of course, but renovations began a couple of years ago and we have found the conditions improving on our last couple of visits. All the rooms have new carpet and large flat screen TV's that can be turned. The hallways are also being spuced up with paneled accents.
We have always stayed on a free Choice Privileges night which is a bargain at 8,000 points, so I can't comment about their rates.
The property has a very large indoor pool and 2 hot tubs and a sauna. There also is plenty of room for lounging. In the past there have been times that one of the hot tubs was out of order which I understand will happen from time to time, however, on this visit it was a first to discover that the pool was FRIGID!!!! The atrium itself is very warm as all the air conditioners vent into the room, this is nice though in the winter. Just make sure you keep your sliding glass door closed or your room will get very hot. Several rooms have balconies overlooking the pool, which is what we always reserve. 2nd floor rooms have spiral stairs down to the pool. We have never had a problem with noise from the pool area after closing time as there is a guard who will clear the area. In the past we have had to wear armbands in the pool, but didn't on recent visits. While annoying, it did keep out people who weren't supposed to be there.
There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel which serves decent food and reward members get a free drink.
A hot breakfast is included which is fair including biscuits, gravy, sausage or bacon, and waffles. The egg patties are rather gross. The breakfast room is usually very crowded and not large enough for the occupancy.
There is also a game room and business center.
One of the best values provided by this property is that they sell discounted tickets to the Henry Doorly Zoo ( which is the best in the country in my opinion ). This will save your family $10 to $15.
On our last visit we returned late after seeing a show and were pleased to find a security guard patroling the parking lot. It made us feel a lot safer, as did the doors which required a key for entry.
Now for the bad.
On this visit the hallways smelled like cigarette smoke so bad that you could hardly stand to walk down them. During the night the smell started drifting into the room.
We were very upset when we started taking our showers late to find the tub completely clogged. We called the front desk and they responded promptly and let us use the room next door to shower. Still this was a big inconvenience. From what I've read in other reviews it sounds like they have been dealing with plumbing problems for months. I think they had better be getting this taken care of ASAP!!!!! The bathrooms themselves are also quite small. The exhaust fan was also very noisy.
After this experience I think we will try another hotel on our next trip to Omaha.

“Large Rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

We stayed here on a trip to the Omaha Zoo. The room size was great, very large, and we even got a King and a Queen bed, when we were told in our reservation we would get 2 queens, pleasantly suprised! The hotel is very 1970 dated. Needs updating. The pool was large and uniquely shaped. The breakfast was wonderful, full spread, eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, juices, coffee, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, there was something for all! Easy highway access. The restraunt, wasn't really kid friendly. It is more like a 20-30's club, not a restraunt. We went after the kids had gone swimming , there was a dress code listed on the door, basically listing all 'gang type' clothing that wasn't allowed. We did have the bar tender say we could come in and eat in the back area, which we did, because the kids were hungry. It wasn't a place for families. My only real complaint was that our bathroom, had ALOT of black mold on the walls, both in and out of the shower. I was on the walls, ceiling and on the grout lines in the shower, all the tiles around the tub handle were smashed as well. We were leaving early, so when I went to get in the shower that morning and pulled back the shower curtain...I couldn't believe it. Have they not ever heard of bleach water??? I have never been in a hotel bathroom, or any bathroom for that matter, that had this much mold. I hope they read this and check room 150, because it was unacceptable. One other weird thing is the bed pillows. They are 12x12 throw pillows, and ridiculously thick and many of them. They ARE NOT like a normal bed pillow, so you better bring you own if you plan on sleeping. I have never seen anything like this before.

“gross and unsafe and I am not picky”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

mold in the bathroom, hard time breathing in the room, bathroom shower drain clogged so when u shower all that gross water is backed up on your feet, clogged toliet. what looks like prostitutes and sketchy characters milling around in the evening. Party's until 2 am and then children jumping in the pool and screaming at 7 am. so if u want to sleep, stay somewhere else. I dont want to be unsafe or catch a disease when I stay in a hotel and both these are iff-y if u stay here. on the plus side, the management was really understanding and nice when we wanted our room refunded and went to stay at the equally priced and MUCH nicer comfort inn down the road.

“Great Location, Large Pool, Nice Rooms, & Staff Unlike any I have experienced!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

Ok here's the deal about this hotel Just the straight truth...
--It's not a brand new all sparkly overpriced hotel with tiny generic rooms (many of which get called suites - Ha) ,a pool not much bigger than a bathtub, and staffed by people that are there only because that's where they have to go to get a paycheck.
Sounds familiar doesn't it.
--Nor is it a hotel that is falling apart, filthy, dark, evil, and depressing as some reviews I read would have you believe. I honestly believe those reviews come from people believe that some things in life are free.
We arrived and found out we had 2nd floor poolside rooms. This was a concern because my Mom has a bad knee and there is no elevator. (My fault I did not specify in the reservations) I only asked to be beside my mom and was. She apologized and said they could move us to the first floor the next day as the hotel was full that night. Next day no problems we moved. Also I inquired about the rate change and she said it was cause of the College World Series but said she would discount my room the same as my moms with AARP discount. When I went back to get moms AARP card the phone rang. It was the gal from the front desk to tell me they just made both rooms 89.00 a night and no rate change. A savings of $100 in the first 15 minutes I was there. The pool area is pretty hot some days as the AC to all the rooms poolside expel the warm air in there. But hey jump in the pool and problem solved. Pool is very nice sized and goes as deep as 9 feet. My girls love it when they have a deep end. The restaurant /lounge has good food but service there was lacking as you had to go get them during the day. There are pool tables and games that the kids can play in there during the day. But in the evening it's really just a lounge. Also a small game room by the vending machines.
All in all it's a nice place to stay, INCREDIBLE STAFF, and priced right!
