“Booked online”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2012 NEW

We booked on a whim and got a nice room on the 1st Floor. Pool was in good shape but we didn't go in. Rooms are bigger than others I've seen for the price range, and the furnishings were better than expected.

“Easy access”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2012

The hotel is in a good location, so it has that going for it. Easy access to and from. If you are on a budget this would be the way to go. We didn't have an kind of issues with our stay.

“One of the worst hotel experiences ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2012

I booked the Econolodge in downtown Omaha for three nights to attend a couple concerts and go sightseeing. I paid extra for a split suite with a whirlpool in it, which only worked half of the time. The room kept blowing circuits so the whirlpool, refrigerator, microwave, and living room lights wouldn't work. We had to tell the front desk twice during our stay to switch the breaker and get the power back on. The last night we were there, we returned to the hotel to a guy sweeping water out of the building and a pump pumping out overflown water from some kind of incident. We then get to our rooms and find out both of our key cards didn't work, when they had worked previously. The room and elevator wreaked of cigarette smoke, and the elevator seemed old and nerve-racking. The only good thing about this hotel was its location, and I'm sure that's how they get a lot of people into their business. The price I paid for the room, however, was definitely not worth the bad experience. Next time, I will be booking a hotel a little farther from downtown just to avoid this happening again.

“they should save a special "worse than terrible" rating for places like this.”

Came out for the Berkshire shareholders meeting. A bunch of people who supposedly had stayed here before booked the rooms. I was first to check in at 11pm and was hassled *while checking in* by an "entrepreneur" offering me companionship and chemical relaxation in his room. He followed me to my car, back to my room (which was already open, door wide open, btw). The halls were an interesting mix of the smells of pot and mold. The clerk who was either intimidated or in on the gig, did nothing to waive the guy off me or let me check in in peace.

All kinds of sketchy activity in the parking lot, people sitting in the windows looking over any new folks driving into the motel.

I risked eating my prepaid room and left by midnight, scouring the city for another place to stay. I would have been safer sleeping in my car street side than going back to that s#!+hole.

Room Tip: if you are looking for even an "OK" room then skip this hotel. If you think it looks ok/sa...

We are actually driving away from this hotel as I write this review. I am amazed at the number of "very good" reviews vs the "horrible" reviews, as I fully assumed every review would be horrible. First of all, it's unimaginable to pay 140 dollars a night for anything less than decent, and this place wasn't even close. When we arrived we were a little scared, as it is located in a slightly ghetto neighborhood, and this is not what the pictures depicted online. But it is right near downtown so that's why we had chosen it - we were going to a wedding on Jones street. The check-in clerk was very nice, and you could tell he aimed to please, but the poor guy gave us keys to a room that someone was already staying in. We opened our room door and there was stuff everywhere and someone in the bedroom (we had a suite). The clerk was embarrassed and got us different room keys. As we walked to our new room we all noticed the place was pretty scary. It was just old and gross and dirty. When we opened the door to our room the lock fell off the wall. Literally. The clerk just kind of laughed it off and said his maintenance guy wouldn't be able to fix it until the next day. Luckily the dead bolt still worked. The room itself was yucky - water stains all over the ceilings, disgusting floors that looked like they've never been cleaned, found the smoke detector in one of the drawers, remote only had one battery, no garbage can in the bathroom, etc. Just a weird little place. We had a nonsmoking room but the entire floor stunk like smoke and other nasty vapors. We also asked for extra blankets and he literally just gave me the one (a comforter only) he had in his hand at that very moment - who knows if it was even clean. Our 2 year old daughter used that in the crib they gave us, which was sufficient, but there were no linens for the crib or the pull-out couch bed. I was too afraid to go outside our room after we were in for the night so I just slept on the couch itself and used 2 towels for a blanket. The pillows were flat and awful. I woke up several times in the night to loud noises and the like. All in all, the clerk was nice and meant well, but nothing else good could be said about the place. It's a miracle we're alive :)
