“Nice but a bit threadbare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Our stay was fine, we were here seeing our family member off to the military. The rooms are nicely appointed with a bar type kitchen with sink, mini fridge, microwave, and real coffeemaker (not a "pod" machine). The decor is frontier "kitsch" but that's ok considering the theme is Lodge in the first place. We were not impressed by the thin doors and if the hotel updates, that should be one of the first things to address. Saw nail clippings on the back of the mattress but room was reasonably clean.

Liked the anti fog feature in the bathroom mirror, which also had magnifier mirror which was nice.

We ate at the bar and had mixed reactions with the food. Hamburger & Chicken were decent, and the fries were good, but the $10 steak salad was completely over cooked thin dried beef strips (I would not call it steak) with iceburg lettuce wads and on the verge of spoiled blue cheese crumbles. Thank God I didn't order the $29 steak.

We got the lowest room price of $89 (maybe Hotwire gives better prices than this?) so perhaps there's a nicer 'section' of the hotel. Front desk was friendly, but busy.

All in all, an ok stay but for the price not impressive.

“Pleasantly Surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Normally I choose to stay in Starwood or Hilton hotels, so I was a little concerned when my boss booked us here on a business trip. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The lobby area is very grand (fireplace, staircase, bar area) and the rooms are cozy (think mountain cabin). If you are needing to stay in the downtown/airport area, this is out of the way. However, that would be my only complaint. I've stayed in two other hotels in Omaha and this was defintely the best of the three.

“No complaints here!”

We stayed here for one night after attending the air show in Lincoln. Our entire experience was positive. At check-in, we asked the lady at the front desk to recommend a good Italian restaurant, which she did and it was excellent. She was very friendly and even gave us a map of the area and detailed driving directions. We had originally booked a room with a king-sized bed, but there was a wedding taking place at the hotel that weekend and we somehow ended up with 2 queen beds. It was not a big deal to us either way, the room was still comfortable. The room seemed older, but was still clean and more than adequate. The water pressure in the shower was intermittently very low, but the temperature stayed constant. The complimentary breakfast buffet was ok and they kept the buffet stocked with hot food. It was a little crowded for breakfast, but that was due to the wedding and is understandable. We would stay here again when traveling in the Omaha area.

“Stay here but eat somewhere else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Stayed at Regency Lodge Sept 21, 2011 while on a tour bus coming from a trip out west. Our group ate together at the lodge's restaurant. The service was poor and very slow. We were told to they were "very busy" and get our order in right now or we will have to wait 45 minutes. The food was just so-so and were disappointed with only iceburg lettuce. Also we could not get a baked potato or grilled/baked seafood, just deep fried. It was very hard to eat healthy here for sure! The lodge itself, otherwise was nice.

“A good place for a wedding and reception”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We stayed at the Regency Lodge, along with numerous friends and relatives for our daughter and son in law's wedding. The wedding and reception were held at the Lodge and we were very pleased with the services connected with this event. The staff, along with the florist did a fantastic job of decorating the room where the wedding was held and the room were the reception and dance were held. Yes, we did have to provide table decorations and some other decorations. The meal served was served hot and in a timely fashion and the presentation of the food was excellent. The staff assisting in this event were excellent. The next day, the decorations and other things that we brought for the event and the leftover cake (the cake had to be ordered from another vendor) were brought to our room. But the staff set up the cake table, along with decorations and plates and napkins and the table holding the book where guests registered were done well. The one bridesmaid was supposed to bring a card box and forgot, but the coordinator of the Lodge thoughtfully provided one when she saw that one was not available. Thank you to the Lodge for this as we didn't discover this until just right before the wedding. I would not hesitate to recommend the Regency Lodge for a wedding for those who might be considering it.
Regarding our rooms: I did hear some issues about low water pressure and lack of hot water from other members of our party.. My husband and I did not find this to be true in our room.
However, I would comment that the tub in room 210 needs to have new rubber footing or whatever it is called so that a person does not slip when getting into or out of the tub or having a shower. My husband and I both felt the footing in the tub was very slick.
There was a morning breakfast which was quite sufficient: scrambled eggs, bacon, various breads, muffins, some small sweet pastries, plus coffee and juices. Oh yes, a pot of oatmeal with bowls of raisens and brown sugar, if you desired. Some cold cereals were also available. If I were to have a complaint about the breakfast, it would be that the one day they had the marbled rye bread which I didn't notice until some one else had it. By that time I'd already eaten and hoped to partake of it the next day. The next day it was not available.
Another big plus was the free Omaha World Hearld Newspaper, available every day, including Sunday! Kudos to the Regency Lodge for providing this as my husband and I do enjoy reading a daily newspaper!
We also liked the Bath and Body works products offered in the rooms. Our room also had a microwave, coffee pot and small refrigerator.
As previous posters have mentioned, this facility is not located close to tourist activities such as the Henry Doorly Zoo, though the Westroads Mall is only a mile or two down the road. My Husband and I are not familar enough with Omaha to drive around. Any traveling we did, was done with other members of the family who are more competent about driving in Omaha. There was a Subway Sandwich shop, only a block away and with your Regency Lodge Keycard, you could get a free cookie. The Regency Lodge does have a restaurant which has limited hours and the menu, while not large, does include some sandwich offerings as well as dinner offerings.
One complaint I did hear from the groom's family, was that an Uncle had arrived 2 hrs ahead of check in time (I am not sure when check in time officially starts as we did not arrive until after 4 pm) but the man was charged $40 plus tax for an "early arrival". I do not know if he was advised of this charge before he checked in or this was discovered after he checked in. I know the man and his family were not happy about the charge and planned to contest it. I don't know the outcome.
Our one daughter (not the bride), when reserving her room, was assigned a room in what she was told was "the newly remodeled section" of the lodge. Yet, when she saw our room, she stated it was just the same as her room, thus indicating that it wasn't "newly remodeled" as they told her. For those of you who might have a military connection, the Regency does offer a military discount. One of the groom's relatives managed to get a room, at the Regency on Orbitz or one of the travel web sites for about $20-$30 cheaper than what we paid. Keep that in mind, rather than making your reservations with the Lodge, directly.
There is also available an exercise room, a swimming pool and hot tub. We were not able to utilize these features but I believe some of the guests, with children did use the pool. I heard no complaints. there was also a business room wtih 2 computers which we did use a couple times. There is also an attached printer which was useful when mapquesting restaurants and other information for some of our guests.

Room Tip: Offers a military discount for active service members. Cheaper rates are available by going to tra...
