Just returned from a fantastic week's holiday. L'Arollaie is definitely above average for French apartments. We were four people in an apartment for eight and any more would have been a push, mainly because there were two bedrooms with small double beds, so we used the third room (bunks) and the sofa bed. Main criticism is just one toilet! With a bit of imagination they could have put another one in. Also lack of comfortable seating - just the sofa bed - in the living area. The central lounge was supposed to have an open fire, but it was never lit, and the area was a bit soul-less. We didn't get much noise from other apartments, but it was a quiet week. Would certainly recommend L'Arollaie, not least because of its location immediately opposite the fast-moving Plan Peisey 6 man chair and the Vanoise. Fabulous views from the apartment across the valley. Only a few minutes walk to hire equipment and to the patisserie for the morning bread run to loosen the legs, although you can order it at reception. Restaurants nearby are ok - the Solan (they do take-away) or the Vanoise Hotel - or ten minutes into Vallandry to Le Refuge Pizzeria. The local Sherpa in Vallandry is well stocked. The snow and weather were absolutely fantastic and no crowds or lift queues even at the renowned bottlenecks. They seem to be investing in new lifts in the whole Paradiski area - we didn't go on a button lift all week!! Mountain restaurants are improving, certainly on the La Plagne side. All in all, the location makes up for the downside.
